Department of Homeland Security has approved the design of driver's licenses for illegal immigrants in Calif

California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law in October a bill that provides illegal immigrants in California with specially-marked driver's licenses, calling the move "the first step" of a national movement
Oh god help me!! A must read here! .Keep it up California. 49 other states will provide the free bus rides to all there illegals. I think you should provide free cars, homes, and union jobs to illegals also. Just increase property taxes and payroll taxes, that should take care of it. I wonder if they need to get auto insurance like the rest of us? What do you guys think of this??
In NYC illegals can get an id card that gives them free admission to over 30 museums and such
Does this mean that these I D cards are being issued just in case proof if ID is required to vote? Another reason why California is rightfully known as the land of fruits and nuts.
How would you deal with the illegal immigrant problem?
A) Deport all of them?
B) Pretend they dont exist?
C) Recognize they exist and make them accountable to the same traffic laws as everyone else - and registering their place of residence like everyone else?

I'll take C. And that's not a crazy liberal position, either. Most Republicans including the previous president (and the most recent GOP presidential candidate) largely agree with me which is why you'll see "guest worker id's" listed as a component of most of their immigration reform plans.. Funny how that works, isn't it? People tasked with solving problems cant resort to irrational, red meat politics when they have real responsibility.

People without responsibility have the luxury of believing removing 30 million cheap laborers and consumers out of the country will be a net benefit to the economy. Or that un-identified, unlicensed drivers make for safer roads.

Take away access to all service. No free education, food stamps, welfare, health care, drivers licenses etc.

Without access to services they will leave on their own.

Totally dude. Allowing people to get driver's licenses is EXACTLY like giving them giving them free cars and homes.

And I'm glad to see you didn't use any hysterical sensationalistic language that would destroy what ever legitimate concerns you were trying to express.
California deserves this. The state is in financial gridlock, taxes are sky high, their forests burn to the ground every year creating choking smoke that is detrimental to the elderly, gas prices are always higher than almost everywhere else, and yet the loonie liberals there want to keep the pressure on and rising by handing even more free services to a bunch of foreign freeloaders.

Let the state suffer. They don't want the border secured so let 'em burn.

You are kidding, right? That's where it started. No access, they came in anyway. Nothing + nothing = better than what they came from.

I'm not taking a stand, just answering kev2128's question "What do you guys think?"

I think the CA and NY programs may represent methods/strategies to reel illegals in to get them accounted for, or at a minimum counted. (And maybe states or communities can/will receive funds based on the numbers.) We U.S. citizens are accountable to abide by laws and societal conventions (not that all do, of course). Letting illegals free range all over the place with no accountability is accomplishing nothing but growing their unaccounted for numbers and crimes and sucking up of unfunded resources. But, the idea of "sending them all back" is akin to shoveling sand against the tide with a seed fork; a ship that has sailed; a genie out of the bottle; pick your metaphor. So, in opposing or supporting measures involving illegal immigration, we consider our values. (We do this when we vote for candidates who share our values, as best as we can determine).

My value system includes living in a manner that benefits my neighborhood, city, state, etc. I wish that every immigrant, legal and illegal, would integrate into society as law abiding, productive citizens. But without accountability they are free to roam. I guess I might support measures that get them on the books, more accountable to us, to society, to the legal system.
You don't have to send them back, by denying them services they will leave on their own. All countries, including the US have limited resources, by allowing anybody to access those limited resources means less resources for those that are here legally.

Why have laws?

I believe we should have the same border policy as Mexico
But if they go back the liberal Democrats won't be able to get enough votes to continue their dismantling of the Constitution.
