Did Bob Dylan Sell Out?

Many people feel the Bob Dylan of the 1960's and 1970's would be ashamed of the Bob Dylan that sold out to do super Bowl commercials.

Me personally I disagree. I feel like everybody else he has changed his viewpoint on some subjects as he has grown older. He didn't do anything illegal or immoral and quite frankly I thought the Chrysler ad was pretty cool.

What do you think?
The Times They Are a-Changin'
I think he's a sell-out due to the message but it's a minor sell-out. Now if Morrissey starting doing commercials for the meat council, that would be a sell-out. I didn't see the commercial but just read about it. The commercial's premise was to buy a made-in-Detroit Chrysler car which is owned by Italian Fiat because it's more American than buying a Toyota or Honda that are made in America. That's not a cause I would see Dylan promoting. To me a sell-out is when you get paid to say or do something that goes against what you believe or what you've been saying.

If Dylan was in the Coke multilingual commercial, that would be OK with me. He seems more like a peace and love dude than a Support the American Union Worker type of guy.

I'm still mad at him for going electric at Newport in '63.

Really, who cares?

Nice response Doc. Thanks for sharing.

tutontow, you are welcome.
I never cared for Dylan's music much, always sounded constipated and struggling when he sang.

I never liked Dylans music either.....lay lady lay was ok
I wore out my Highway 61 Revisited vinyl recording. Listened to Blonde on Blonde a bit, too. Never had much interest in any other Dylan music. But those two, man, those two are awesome albums.
