Did You Ever Use Your Cell Phone On A Plane?

Now I don't mean when your on the ground getting ready to take off, or when you've landed and ready to deplane.

I'm talking when you're up 20,000-40,000 feet! I did a lot of flying after my mother died in 2008 between Calif to Florida and Florida to New Jersey, and back to Florida and back to Calif. Repeated the CA. to FL trips many times in between.

But when we were up in the air, I couldn't get any reception or even a signal at those flight levels. So it got me to wondering, since G-D gave us brains to think, other than those satellite phones that were on the planes at the time, circa 2001, how did those people on planes during 911 talk to anyone on the ground? I know we've all read the reports of how people on at least one plane, the one that crashed in Pennsylvania, were talking to love ones on the ground.

How could this have been possible, when there is absolutely no reception once you leave the ground?

We all have heard all the conspiracy theories about 911, but just how do they explain this one?

I was just wondering, since if I couldn't get any reception...how did they?

Any legit answers would be appreciated!.
If the plane is low enough and close enough to a tower it will get signal.

You going to question the moon landings next?
Snidely answered the question. My question is why you would know you couldn't get reception? You weren't supposed to be trying. I suppose you're "special."

Good Luck!
