did you say "affordable health care"?

One more thing, sure the entire premium price went up only 5-15%, but the Obama discount stayed the same, this is why the individual portion has gone up 30-65% and the deductibles have gone up even more. It is all "fuzzymath" as usual.
My childhood friend, Nick, ran into the same problem. His family insurance cost increased some $10,000 to keep the same plan and the same doctors. Somehow, this makes Nick a liar in the eyes of Chilly and Forkie.

Mikey, I guess in the eyes of Forkie and Chilly you are a liar also.

I decided to stay with the same premium paid in, now my deductible is $12,700 up from $4800. So I guess you could say my policy did not go up at all. But I love taking the extra $7900 in the ass. In fact all you dumb asses need to go on the marketplace before you talk through your ass!

I work for a black owned company and our owner is a big supporter of Obama. I'm guessing less now than 6 years ago, but I believe that he's still a supporter.

My insurance cost portion for my company medical plan did not increase, HOWEVER, during meetings I have learned that the company absorbed a large increase in medical insurance premium costs. I don't know what "large" means, but I'm guessing well into double digits. I have heard that our black owner didn't want Obama to look bad, so he sucked it up and paid the entire amount.

If premiums didn't go up you can be assured that that the deductable went up or the copays, or both.

Interesting that nobody here has come forward to say that their health costs have come down.

Wow, this data is far far different from PJ's posted cost savings. I'm still waiting for my $2500 family savings. Since PJ's link only listed a sliver of the picture, it was obvious to me that there is more Obamacare lies and twisting of the truth going on.

I posted the same exact chart on the "I hate Obamacare" thread from last week. You weren't impressed with my source then either. sigh. I guess thats my lot in life. I give Boilerman data which he says is bogus and then he rests his case on a story about his friend Nick...or his Buddy Pete..or his black boss.

Same chart, different thread.

gruber - the gift that keeps on giving

With ObamaCare limiting patients’ ability to choose their own insurance plans, doctors and medications, we might now know why: the law’s designers don’t think people know how to choose.

“We have experimented with choice in public insurance: Medicare Part D,” Gruber stated on a presentation slide dated Jan. 22, 2013. “Typical senior has 50 PDPs [Prescription Drug Plans] to choose from.”

But what’s wrong with seniors being able to choose their own plan?

“Seniors do a terrible job choosing,” Gruber said.
The chart you posted is possibly accurate, and is without a doubt an attempt to mislead people into believing that Obamacare has driven down the average cost of medical expenses within the state of Indiana.

My VERY financially comfortable brother retired some 5 years ago at 55. Since he pulled back into a cash position on his investments, he showed little to know income last year thus is qualifying for a great Obamacare subsidy. PJ, feel free to utilize this example to imply that Obamacare is driving down the cost of medical expenses within the state of Illinois. This would be true, and it would be misleading. That's the Obama way.................except for the "true" part.

My bad...I forgot Boilerman's brother in the myriad of data he presents to make a broad point.

If I was so inclined:
I could bring up both my parents who save over 3k and growing each year on prescription drug costs due to Obamacare. Or I can point to my neice who gets to stay on my sisters plan while she goes to grad school. Or I can point to my friend Jen can buy health insurance for the first time in her adult life because insurance companies denied her before on the basis of her pre-existing epilepsy.

But I'm not inclined to make a broad point based upon anecdotal stories...because I'm afraid someone might correctly call me foolish for doing so and I have fragile emotions.

The biggest liars in the world are statisticians. Stats are easily skewed and translated to further ones point. I have used the power of perceived statistics many times in business to get my way. The actual numbers may be true but the presentation is the lie.
Which demonstrates that in your story, the statistics were honest, and you weren't.

I don't suppose that is what you were trying to prove, is it?

That's EXACTLY what I am saying.

When I had a plan that I knew was right I did whatever I had to do to convince the board to vote my way. Including skewing statistics to prove my point.
Sound familiar??
Only in politics it is far more exaggerated.
PJ I think the point a lot of people are making is while premiums may not be going up or up that much there is an intentional deception about the way the numbers are being presented. That is Obama or more likely someone in the Obama Administration told the insurance companies to hold the premiums down to an increase of 6% nationwide. So the insurance companies cut the benefits to mask the true amount the premiums needed to go up. So while it is all fine and dandy to sit around and say premiums are only up 6% nation wide in actuality benefits are way down so as a whole the country is paying 6% more for a whole that less than they had last year.

I also throw this little nugget out there that the media hasn't picked up on yet. I know we discussed last year how the cap was being taken off the prescription drug out of pocket costs. Obama said at the time it was because the poor big insurance companies that had two years to prepare for the law couldn't be expected to be able to take one database (prescription drugs paid out) and another (medical paid out) and add the two together. So he gave them a special onetime uncapped year.

Guess what I see as I browse the 2015 polices? Most of them have it explicitly spelled out there is a separate out of pocket max for medical and prescription drugs. To someone that is dealing with a chronic illness that is $25,300 out of pocket a year on an Obamacare family plan. This shit is horrible and instead of getting better it just keeps getting worse.
