A Dilemma

To be responsible or not....that is the dilemma.

My wife and I are building a house - a good start, and came to the realization that a trip to Vegas would pretty much be out of the question this year.

We now have a buyer for our current home and should be moving into the new house the 1st week of August - all's good, right?!?!?

Well, a few days ago I notice on the LVA home page the 40% off deals on Caesars properties....hmmm, interesting I say to myself and a few clicks of the mouse and find we can stay at Paris on the night of our anniversary and the 3 nights after that (which includes a weekend stay) for $383 tax & title. I email this to my wife who buckles and says BOOK IT! We've never stayed at Paris before and 40% off is pretty darn good in our book.

So I check the fine print for cancellation policies and find the typical 72 hours thing. A few more clicks of the mouse and low & behold we have our reservation.

Most of the new home furniture has been bought however we still have to buy sunroom, office and breakfast nook furniture. Not to mention the multiple loads of top soil so we can have a nice lawn in a short time. Of course with building a new home little and big things pop up and we've had to spend a little (OK a lot) more than we anticipated.

Next is looking for cheap flights unfortunately (or fortunately) no cheap airfare from Ohio to Vegas - of course still looking, any thoughts?!?!?!?

It sure feels like a guilty pleasure just having the reservation since we both no it may not be the adult, responsible thing to do.

So what would you do?!?!? Put the money that would be spent on the trip into the house or play Farragut and go on the trip?!?!?!?

A sweet dilemma it is since it really seems to be a win-win either way.
Try air fare watch dog .com (all one word) you get daily emails on the lowest rates.

Last I saw Southwest has one of the lowest fares IF they fly out of your neck of the woods.

It's not like you are going to be gone for three or four weeks, but only a few days. No need to have guilty feelings.
Go, you could probably use the rest after the stresses of building and furnishing a new home.

At the end of the year you will still be in your new home. It would be nicer to sit in that home and talk about the great time you had in Vegas instead of wondering what it would have been like to spend your aniversary at Paris.

This way you'll have memories of both

Now that is a hell of a good thought!!!

We built a new house a little over four years ago. Three weeks before closing we went to vegas for six nights at that point everything was selected that was needed to finish the house so there was no need for us to be here. I'm glad we made that trip needed the break from the situation. We came back and bought furniture and moved feeling much better than we did prior to vacation. GO HAVE FUN!
If you're going to get to Vegas and feel guilty and not enjoy yourselves, then don't go. If you can have fun and enjoy it, then go.
VEGAS BABY!!!
We stayed in Paris this past Christmas in a Premier View room for $60 a night. Great view of the fountains and a beautiful room. It was a corner room in the 17th floor NW corner.
