Do casino execs care at all about gambling?

One of the major corporations that everyone here seems to hate is now having game manufacturers come up with new paytables for video slot games because 86% is way too generous and that is the worst paytable a lot of manufacturers have. Don't be surprised if 80% games show up soon.
very interesting, Drich2. I think Nevada Gaming Regulations allow for games to pay back as little as 75%.

edited to add: yep, it is 75% required by law. that's it.

what's next 5/4 jacks or better?
I wouldn't be surprised to see 5/4 JOB in the future at CET properties, probably at the bars.
I think they view gaming as just one of their streams of revenue. I also think that the average LV visitor doesn't view gaming the way most LVAers do. They don't understand the difference between 6/5 and 3/2 BJ. Ask them about VP paytables and they probably don't know what you're talking about. Some of this has been confirmed to me in talking to friends and customers over the years. I'm also sure the strip operations know this and realize that upgrading VP paytables may bring in a small segment of savy players, but overall most players wouldn't have a clue as to the change. I'm sorry to say, but they are probably right. As for me, I'll just keep going to the locals places.

I frequent Paris when I come to LV,and I can tell you that most evenings you can't get a VP machine, they are all being played, especially the quarter machines. So why would they have better pay tables? It seems that people who want to play VP will play these crappy machines.A good number of gamblers don't want to leave the property for better machines,IMHO.
In response to the point that these execs don't even know what the pay tables are, I think that in the scheme of things, that information is just not needed for there daily operating decsions. It may seem real important to us, but to them it is no big deal. They are worrying about making their number for the quarter ,and whose ass is next to get canned. Bob
regardless of "pay tables" the casino is going to make a profit, because maybe 00.05% of the visitors can play Jacks or Better at 99.95% skill level.

I agree, except what payers at any level realize is just how long their money lasts in a machine. They will not be happy if their credits are gone before they get a second drink (or even a first one).
I think video poker players are "different" from slot players. I think they all look at the paytables. They might play the bad ones but I think they are aware that they are playing the bad ones.

Some folks just play and don't care.
