Do casino execs care at all about gambling?

Just had a call from the CFO of a major property... business call... nothing to do with gambling. Curiously, today I got an email survey about my recent visit to his casino. Not one question about gaming, but lots of questions about "service" and restaurants and facilities. When I told him there were no questions about "gaming" or even about service in the casino he said he was surprised and said "Im going to look into that."

I wonder which department sent out the survey.
The survey that I got came from an outside contractor. The survey company info was on the survey. But I would think that the casino company would be telling the survey company what info it wanted. So I dont think you can blame the survey company?

I doubt if the survey company met with every employee in the casino company. Some of these casino companies can be large. If the survey company met with every employee, or even every department head, the survey would be 40 pages long and nobody would bother to reply, even if you included a $5 bill in with the survey. Instead, I suspect that one department commissioned the survey and asked the questions that are relevant to that department.

Even if the gaming department commissioned the survey I doubt if they would be asking about VP pay tables. Instead they would probably ask if the chairs are comfortable.

I was at GVR on May 21 and saw a very unusual VP bank. Each machine was 10/6DDB and the denominations were nickel, dime, quarter and dollar. That is a first in my experience. Maybe an experiment ?
A local Penn National casino has an eclectic inventory of vp machines. They mix all of the newer games with the old and will alternate machines with different paytables. Most players have no clue about paytables. They'll move from machine to machine and play everything and anything. They'll have 9/5DDb and 6/5 Bonus on the same machine. The casino has these folks pegged. Why raise the paytables ?
Very few would notice.
