Do you believe in the Overton Window?

And no I am not talking about the book written by Glenn Beck.


In short what I am talking about is taking a radical idea that is outside mainstream acceptability and pushing it into the mainstream by presenting a more radical idea thus making the original idea seem mainstream.



Do you think this is possible?

Of course. Someone comes up with some outrageous crap, then you compromise to something that you never would have even considered if the compromise had been the original idea.

Maybe gay marriage advocates should start supporting polygamy.

Oh, that's what you call it!!

It works like this...

Me: "Honey Im back from the casino."
Wife: "how much did you lose?"
Me: "Oh not much."
Wife: "yeah, well how much did you lose, damnt. Tell me right now. How much did you lose?"
Me: "I lost 25 thousand."
Wife: "you SOB how dare you come back to this house after losing 25 thousand. You bastard. You ass. You moron."
Me: "Oh, I was just kidding you. I only lost two hundred dollars playing a poker tournament."
Wife: "Oh, just two hundred. That's OK."

Been done before and will be done again.
