Do you have your bracket filled out?

August 6th will be the big date. It will be interesting to see which candidates get a seat at the big kid's table.

Let's see:

Trump no. too many reasons to list
Graham no. he has a girl's name
Ted Cruz. no. sounds hispanic
Christie no. New Jersey
Rubio. No. name ends in vowel
Kasich- no. never heard of him/her
Rand no. I like him
Jindal. no He's Desi.
Jeb. maybe!
Pataki. vowel
Huckabee. too weird
Perry. too weird
Walker maybe. Good name. never heard of him
carly. never heard of him/her
Ben Carson. Didn't he get the boot last election?
Rick- too weird.

Hillary in a landslide. Sadly.
Now whether either one wins it, the two fguys I like the most being walker and Rand with Rand getting the nod. Now if Ron Paul ends up on the ballot, I'd probably go for him. I think Rand has a genuine interest in trying to do what's best for the country, not some self-serving politician with a thirst for power.
As for the rest, I think Snidelys list suffices, except the part about Hillary winning{shudder the thought}. Self serving witch.
DonDiego appreciates that the Daily Koss has taken the trouble to set up the brackets with seedings based upon polling as of 21 July. It's sorta cool.

DonDiego won't fill out his brackets, but he'll offer some of his impressions of those in the competition.

__Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina have surprised DonDiego the most. In serious lengthy interviews on the TV they come across as very well informed and capable of responding to questions logically and intelligently, . . . sort of the "anti-Hillary", who is guarded and responds with programmed, focus-group-tested responses, . . . if she responds at all.

__DonDiego is philosophically most in tune with the Libertarian Rand Paul, . . . but he won't be the next President.

__The current/former Governors - Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rick Perry, Scott Walker - all have more executive experience than the current President had when he ran.
Notably, Scott Walker has prevailed over intense opposition throughout his Governorship; having observed Presidents with college degrees, DonDiego supposes the lack of one might be a refreshing change.
DonDiego is unpleasantly surprised by snidely333's rayciiiiiiist rant against Governor Jindal.

__Ben Carson is the sort of person DonDiego would like to see President, . . . a successful, skilled citizen-President who hasn't lived his entire life immersed in political scheming, . . . sort of another "anti-Hillary". But he won't be the next President.

Just an observation...That the trait of "successful, skilled citizen-President who hasn't lived his entire life immersed in political scheming" also applies to both Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina. Two candidates who impressed DonDiego. Of course it also applies to 'The Donald' who did not appear in DonDiego's GOP Candidate analysis.

To be clear, lest poor old DonDiego suffer continued unpleasantness, the reasons I gave above are not my personal reasons, but rather, how I perceive the voting public to act within the confines of the secret ballot box. I used to like Jindal but now I find him too blustery.

I hope a moderate Republican wins the next election. The GOP needs to quell all the discord about social issues like gay marriage and the Confederate flag and focus on things that are important like unemployment, the economy, terrorism.

The RNC's 2012 report of election lessons learned was centered around the idea they have to start reaching out to more minorities and women - especially Latinos.

I'm pretty sure the only two current GOP candidates that read that report are Jeb Bush and Rand Paul. Rubio is hoping the Latino community will forgive his anti-immigrant rhetoric because his last name ends in a vowel.

I think Jeb vs Hillary would prove to be a tight contest. If the RNC nominates anyone else then you can expect another 4-8 years of Dems in the White House. To which I say: Go, Donald, go!

This website may help folks determine the candidate best aligned with their views.....

For me Rubio was #1 followed by Santorum and Paul and the bottom three (bottom up) were O'Mally, Sanders, and Clinton.

I still like Walker, Cruz, and Fiorina even though there were not in my top 3

Which candidate aligns most closely with your views?
"forgive his anti-immigrant rhetoric because his last name ends in a vowel."

WRONG

Rubio is anti ILLEGAL immigrant. That is a big difference which the democrats refuse to acknowledge & a lie that they continue to spread

Perhaps hoops2 is being a mite too harsh.

The reality might well be that in their hearts the Democrats actually cannot see a difference between an illegal-immigrant and a legal-immigrant. After all, a vote is a vote from either.
