Does anybody have a favorite German Restaurant in Las Vegas?

Octoberfest will be coming up and I will be in LV at least once and maybe twice. I have a German background. I will admit that when it comes to engineering and design the Germans are second to none, however they are not famous for their cuisine.
I have only eaten at the Hofbrauhaus. it is supposed to be an exact replica of the original in Munich. Well, not quite but it is a good American representation of a German beer hall and a separate bier garten. The garten is may choice with a little less "entertainment" and being the only air conditioned beer garden I have been in.

The food is pretty good. I think it is better than the Texas/German food I grew up on. The menu is almost exclusively Bavarian style. My favorite is their Sauerbratten, it's very good.
I can't help it, but was definitely going to reply on exactly what you ended with....there is good German food??? I have tried to find something to like and even have some German blood, but when Oktoberfest comes around to the buffets, I just feel cheated that it is taking the place of something else.

I remember a restaurant on eastern, I believe getting a write up a few years back. Otherwise, not sure of any either. I always just google Vegas and German restaurant or whatever. It will eventually find things. Yelp is good too. Or maybe even Vegas and Oktoberfest.

I always see a Russian restaurant too in write ups and it didn't even sound good.
You might want to try Cafe Berlin, 4850 W Sunset @ Decatur. I have enjoyed the pastries at the German Bread Bakery, the actual bakery located @ 2237 N Rampart Blvd in Summerlin and a sales outlet @ 9255 Eastern Ave in Henderson.

Bavarian Castle was the restaurant on Eastern, but that closed over a year ago.

Germans can cook?
If you drink enough beer anything tastes good. Thats why Germans serve beer in those half-gallon steins.

But i don't need to be wasted to enjoy some good german sausage and kraut. Pierogies are more Polish than German but ive been seeing them appear in German restaurants Frequently. Those are always a winner.
The Hofbrauhaus House is the place to go for Octoberfest. German band music, German beer, German food, lots of drunks. Personally, the food is secondary to the experience. If you are serious about the food, go earlier in the day rather than the evening.
I knew that Westie knew.
Cafe Berlin. Red cabbage?

The first Saturday in the month is buffet time. $19.95. 4-9PM
I was in Germany two weeks ago for a couple days and Italy two weeks before that. While I enjoyed the northern Italian cuisine, the German cuisine did not impress me. I don't even like German beer. Give me Italian food and English ales.
It's hard to find these days, but I'm a big fan of Uterbraten.

Don't ask about the ingredients.
