Does anybody know why Venetian and Palazzo are losing their shows?

They either closed down or will be closing down Jersey Boys, Phantom of the Opera, and Blue Man Group.

To me those are three of the best attactions on the strip. Did they lose them to demanding too much money for contract renewal? I hope they are not going to replace them with Le Cirque shows? I'm Le Cirqued out.

As far as I know the only production that has actually decided to close is Phantom. The other two are simply moving on to new theatres - Blue Man Group to Monte Carlo and Jersey Boys to Paris. I had heard that Phantom was bleeding money and had been doing so for quite some time so the producers decided it was time to close the show. That seems to be backed up by this article: Link
One rumour I heard at the Palazzo in January was that a Vegas version of the Broadway play "Wicked" might be moving in, but nothing certain yet. Guess we'll just have to wait & see!

I do get what you are saying about Cirque du Soleil. I have no doubt that they will keep adding new shows as long as they keep selling tickets. Hopefully, they will come up with new ideas that are less like their recent weaker efforts. I'm not done with them yet, but have been disappointed in a couple of their latest shows (Believe and Viva Elvis spring to mind). I know they can do better, and I hope they will.
Thank you for the legitimate response. My two guesses were that Adelson had decided to (1) pay the performers to stand on top of Palazzo, holding sheets of plywood, to help block out the sun from Wynn, or (2) relocate the performers to the various Congressional districts, so they could call their Representatives each day and tell them to keep blocking on-line gaming, patriotically, of course.
I'm going with #1. LOL!
