Does anyone .....

....still play the old style reel type slots? Seems like the penny machines have taken over. Is it the flash or the pay outs?
99% of my play is VP, but when I need a break I look for those older style reel type slots.

I like Double Diamond and Red-White and Blue the best, but I can be found at the penny WOO sometimes.

Although I have been known to dabble with some penny machines - Kitty Glitter, Antique Appraisal and for some strange reason I also kind of like Totally Puzzled - my preference is the old style reels. I can foresee sometime in the future they may go the way of the dinosaur but until then I will always choose a three reel, single line quarter machine over anything else.
Used to play the old style reels like Wild Cherry but we've switched to the newer video ones because the bonus rounds are so much more fun. Village People Party is a blast when you get the bonus.

I like the Ten Times Pay and the Triple Stars machines. Have hit some decent jackpots on them.

Seems like downtown has more of the reel type slots than anyone else.
I am a big fan of Top Dollar. And Wild Cherry. not super double bonus Wild Cherry, but regular old Wild Cherry. If I have a nice bankroll to work with, I will seek out a 3X4X5X Pay machine.

But the bonuses on the video slots can be so much fun. If you don't like the penny denominatin, I have seen a lot of the video slots in nickels and sometimes even in dollars.
I've never had a lot of luck with the older reel slots. My favorites though were the bally machines that I first played in 1990 when I turned 21. They were manufactured in 1982 were quarter machines had 4 reels 3 pay lines with 7's and fruits (with no blank spots on reels). Sands and Circus Circus in reno had a each had a small bank of em. Never had much luck with the IGT reels that soon followed.
Hell, I prefer the coin droppers.
I've always found it amazing the difference that people think there is on the penny machines, vs. quarters. I agree with everyone above wanting to play the classic machines. More amazing is that people don't realize when they play a $.01 machine, with a top payout of 100,000, it means $1k. But, you have to play at least $3 or so to win that. Give me a $.25 Double Diamond one liner that pays $2500 any day. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I agree Marc&Misti, to get the "Jackpot" you have to play max coin and that sometimes be like playing a three reel $1 machine. There are some penny machines are 90 cent max, but that is still more than the three reel quarter. The little wins on the penny slots seem to make the loss feel better.
