Does Anyone Remember "Wild Thing"

Oh the memories that song conjures up. The lead singer for the Troggs, Reg Presley, died today. I guess I have selective memory because I can remember a parody of Senator Everett Dirkson singing it but I can't remember my grocery list :>)

Here is the parody Wild Thing

I one of the ones who love it. That song conjours up memories from college. The little watering hole/dive my friends and I hung out in, "Joe's International supper club and pool room", use to jam that song. This place was the epitome of a little dive in a college town in W'Va. that got to be a truly wild place at one point. The owner was a really cool guy and on some nights he would absolutely crank the music, mostly oldies, til you thought the windows would shatter. Many tables got destroyed on a few of those nights from people jumping up and dancing on them, the bar was full of people dancing on top of it as well. It was like a great party with 120 of your best friends.

All was great until the wet T-shirt contests got outta control and the cops put a stop to it, it was kinda like the parents came home and busted the party up Anyway, Wild Thing was one of the songs taht was always played when Butch took over the music. Fun times, met my wife there, but that's a whole other story.

Sad day - he was a good guy.
Here is a rare recording of Wild Thing by The Troggs - Reggae style!

Definitely a highlight of that movie!
I like this version:

Wild thing: Sam Kinison
Funny about the things you remember ...........

I loaned the original Wild Thing 45 RPM by The Troggs to the bass player in our band.

He placed it (for some stupid reason) in the back of his car right under the rear window.

Strange what the hot summer sun will do to a record when magnified by glass and in an enclosed car.

The record completely melted, getting all wavey and warped like.

I love that song, too. Everyone would always sing along whenever it played. Interesting tidbit - read in today's paper that the song was written by James Voight, Jon's brother.
