Dog owner gets at least 15 years in fatal mauling

LANCASTER, California. This was pretty brutal What do you guys think of this Story
Pit Bulls are the preferred guard dog for drug dealers and gangs, which to me is quite obvious in this case.

The Truth About Pit Bulls
15 years is too short. The guy knew he had dangerous dogs and was negligent.
WOW, I couldn't even imagine. A true crime happened here, a kid gettin' in on with a coupla hot teachers don't seem so much now. An arm actually got severed, unbelievable.

"In Jackson's case and others like it, there was a record of complaints that the dogs were dangerous.

"His actions in this case show that he has a nearly psychopathic disregard for the lives and well-being of others," Deputy District Attorney Ryan Williams said of Jackson in his sentencing memo."

OK, so my question is...what was the response of LAW ENFORCEMENT to these complaints? The Deputy District Attorney himself declares the man to have "a nearly psychopathic disregard for the lives and well-being of others."

Did he just now figure this out?

The legal system failed everybody, if they were alerted. Cops are quick to issue citations (and fines) if your dog is off the leash, even in your own yard.

What happened when so many, including the mailman, complained about these dogs?

Hope the verdict doesn't get reversed on appeal.

There are 4 times the amount of bites by German Shepards than Pit Bulls every year. If pit bulls were so "dangerous" don't ya think we'd be hearing about more drug dealers dying from bites/savage attacks ??
My ex had a pit bull... biggest suck ever. Once while playing / wrestling with him he accidently bit me and drew blood. He immediately cowerd and went and laid down in the corner. Had to coax the hell out of him to relax and come back. It's NEVER the breed...it's the owner (parent). Just like asshole kids !

Wow! I don't know where to start with some of this nonsense. While I agree that the owner makes a big difference, it's impossible to say NEVER regarding this (or other) breeds. This breed just happens to be more deadly than most. I've seen many stories of Pit Bulls deemed "sweet and lovable" mauling or killing a child. Regarding your reference to German Shepherds, that stat is meaningless without evidence of the ratio between the amount of German Shepherds to Pit Bulls. What if there are fifty Shepherds per each Pit Bull? That would make the ratio for Shepherds very good. I'd be willing to concede that Pomeranians may be more likely to bite a child since they are a nervous little breed. The key difference is that they won't be able to kill a child. Your last comment about kids is also laughable. A kid can go bad even if they are raised by good parents either due to their own personality or legitimate mental issues. Jeffrey Dahmer wasn't mistreated by his parents.
