DonDiego hopes this heh' teevee show ain't a-gonna, . . .

. . . damage the image of Appalachia.

It's called "Buckwild", . . . and it looks sorta like somethin' called "Jersey Shore" magically transported to the West Virginia mountains, . . . but without the Atlantic Ocean or somethin' called "Snookie".

Anyways, it's a-gonna start on January 3rd on yer teevee. Here's a peek:

Contains Adult Situations and Language, . . . well, actually,
it's not really "adult"; it's more like overaged adolescents
who'll likely never amount to much at all and end up on the
dole with a passel o' young-uns livin' off'n the Gub'mint, . . .
that's iff'n they survive this heh' show at all.
Ah, well, . . . it's all good.

Didn't MTV used to jes' show music-videos? DonDiego is a cogitatin' that he ain't watched MTV fer at least a few decades or thereabouts, . . . and he ain't likely to start agin'.
I remeber watching the day MTV kicked off, cable was still relatively new, I'm not sure if ESPN was even on yet and I was a teenager anticipatin' the kickoff and there it went with someone NOBODY has ever heard of let alone the ditty and out blasts from my TV "The Buggles" blasting out' video killed the radio star'. I believe I had MTV as my default channel for the next 5 years,it was on constantly.
You mean that is not what yer kids act like in the Appalachia DD?

Let us all hope that DD gets a cameo appearance on this show if it takes off like Jersey Shore did.
Watched a story on Sunday's Good Morning America about this program and the upset state folks.

Think I seen Don Diego getting kneed in the nuts by a corn fed woman.
MTV should send a generous thank you gift to this guy. He bought the show millions of dollars worth of publicity for free.

Senator urges MTV to pull the plug on 'Buckwild' series, calling it a 'travesty'

By Randee Dawn, TODAY contributor
What Garden State folks might put up with from "The Jersey Shore" is not going to fly in West Virginia, not if Sen. Joe Manchin III has his way. The Democrat from the Mountain State is speaking out about the new MTV series "Buckwild" which appears to be trying to duplicate the "Jersey Shore" formula in Appalachia.

I am repulsed at this business venture," he wrote to MTV network president Stephen Friedman in a letter last Friday, calling the show a "travesty." "You preyed on young people, coaxed them into displaying shameful behavior and now you are profiting from it."

Sen. Manchin has not yet seen the show, which premieres in January -- only previews, according to the Washington Post -- but what he's seen duplicates much of what has already been shown on "Jersey Shore": young people cavorting, partying, swearing and generally being as "wild" as they can, all while cameras are rolling.

Manchin joined TODAY's Matt Lauer Monday via satellite to explain further. "This is one of the greatest states in the nation, with the best people ... and to portray this as the norm is wrong," he said. "Is this entertainment? Is this what you have to do today to make a profit?"

The senator exhorted producers to support the best and the brightest from his state, not the sloppiest and silliest, but as Lauer pointed out, that might be expecting too much from reality TV.

"The viewers must understand this is not reality, this is not real West Virginia," said Sen. Manchin. "They come in here and coerce these students or these young people, they pay them money, promise them fame and fortune, they had four and five takes until they got it outrageous enough to show it. Now, that's not reality."

I think your tax dollars are safe DD. If this show is half as successful as Jersey Shore those "young-uns" will wind up with more money than you and I put together*. Look elsewhere for the 47%'s. Suggestion: there are some shows about American military personal serving in Afghanistan. Freeloaders all over the place.

*I'm not suggesting we join financial forces Don, just using an example.
