Doomsday preppers

Anyone ever catch this show> I've caught some in bits and pieces, pretty interesting stuff. I think are a little ,well, nutty and way too extreme. A few however are kinda worthwhile, makes you think a little bit.

A couple of the more extremem ideas are the lady who's prepping for a bio attack. Drills her 6 kids in the yellow suits, respirators and the like. She made the whole family drill after turkey day dinner and the "late" arriving relative go thru her whole 'decontimantion along with her family again. You could see the guys, oh man,not this shit now, full belly,football..nap...zzzzz. Looked more OCD germophobia to me.

Then the guy and his family up in maine with some of the community all prepping, becoming self-suficient. Great planning, growing all thier food sufficient water, housing, the whole set up imo. I saw one huuuuuge flawin the plan tho. No weapons. Nada, zip, zero. His "plan" against any marauders? Oh,I'll charm them..invite them to a fantastic home grown fresh, veggies and such. If something happens, well,i'll cut there throat while the're asleep. Guns are for morons(i remember that quote verbatim). Oh really? Thats the plan? Good luck there buddy.

I also caught the one with the guy who was stockpiling liquor along with massive quantitys of other stuff. He was testing out his molotive cocktail defense theorry on the show. Sure 'nuff,he prepped a fifth and wizzed it into a bonfire pit filled with large stones and it broke and it broke and created a small fire, worked perfect except for one thing IMO. Great wepon as long as your attacker is wearing a suit of stones and holds still while you light it and hurl it hard enough to break it on him.

I'm prpped, well for a montha nd a half, thats all the dialisys stuff for. Interesting show.

USAF Veteran of far north 42 degrees below zero work. We are from northern Michigan in a National Forrest. My lady friend is especially interested in survival. Every morning she reads the survival postings. We are campers and always on the look out for easy out in the woods meals. She and I have found many such good meals, and are prepared to survive. If the poweer goes out up here, we make all changes needed in a matter of minutes, and life goes on at our house.

The difficulty with the television show in question is run by fools who want to make survival interested men & women look foolish. I am sure those same producers are lost without a Burger King close by.
I liked the guy who made the inground pool to a greenhouse/fish pond and leteveryine know it. I have to say, that is not what you want. How will you defend it, it is surburan? I mean if it gets out? When the chips are down and there is no food or water, then people will take and get at no thought or cost to you or the next person.

I liked the guy who had the one underground on the "Farm" but then it was like a HOUR away by car to get there. , And if there was a attack many folks forget that all electronics will be out of working use due to the EMP(s) (Think) that happen as a nuke enters the atmosphere. So how lon would it take you to get there then if walking with a child? Great idea but I have to wonder how much these folks spend?

I never thought of stocking TP but they are right.

There was an old episode of the Twilight Zone, where a family had built a bomb shelter. When the nuclear warning alarm sounded, all of his neighbors were beating on the door to the shelter and wanting to kill him because he wouldn't open it and let them in. It was a false alarm and all of the neighbors had to stand down and try to apologize for their behavior. I suspect that episode would be very true today, if something like that was to occur.

I recall that one, or the Tales from the darkside where the lady had the necklace that stopped time and she was the only person not stopped and the nuke was ready to hit the ground at the end.

Huh. I survived all this time without any of that stuff. Kinda makes you wonder.

That's your cue, Frank.

I'm a big Twilight Zone buff. I remember that episod, the dude was having little Jimmy and his wife fill all the glass mason jars with water. He had a filter system and everything in there. I like the neighbor who came with the new infant trying to weasel his way in the fort lol.
