In his 1968 demonstration that is now called the Mother of All Demos (you can find it on YouTube), Englelbart demonstrated the mouse, hypertext linking, word processing, collaborative real time editing, video conferencing, collaborative programming, and other stuff.
Without him, we might not have the internet right now. Or AlanLeroy II. So it's a mixed bag.
