Downtown

I just got back from Vegas great trip but I spent a lot of time downtown playing the slots and tables. I'm in my 60's and in the evening my sister and I go our seperate ways due to Gambling. I was thinking next trip maybe staying downtown so could anyone tell me which Hotel would be the best. I don't sleep in vegas I figure I can do that when I'm dead. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Pattie
There are many economical places to stay downtown, if your play doesn't warrant a free room. Of course the Golden Nugget is the "poshest" My personal favorite at the moment is the Four Queens. Not fancy, but clean and fun and good with their comps.
Best depends on your tastes, but my favorite downtown is Main Street Station. They have good games, decent rooms, good food and once you get established they send good offers.
My pick is Main Street Station. It is a little off the beaten path though. I just like the feel of the place.

I love the Tez
Been staying downtown for many years after being beat to death on the strip. Favorite place is Calif Hotel/Casino. Its a bit away from the trains unlike the MSS, but good comps and play. Both are good places to play, eat and sleep.
Thanks for the info. I'm getting tired of the strip its so congested esp. on the weekend when all the younger ones come in, its crazy. I just want to feel like I can go by myself at 3am in any casino downtown to gamble then go back to my room without being followed.
I have stayed at the GN several times and loved it. Easy and safe walk to several other Casinos.
Felt very safe walking around at all hours.

Got tired of the Strip some years ago--for all the reasons you mention plus Entitled 20-somethings, high prices, strollers, crowds, flippers, oh, and did I mention high prices for everything!!

If you stay under the covering on Fremont, you will feel no un-ease. Security is everywhere. We also walk to MSStation-Cal without question. If that bothers you and you want to go to MMStation, walk through LV Club and exit the back door and enter the Cal once you cross the street. That gets you into Cal and MSStation by using the overpass.

I agree. I like staying at 4 Queens but my favorite place to play is the Cal followed by the Fremont. The Golden Nugget is okay but I feel their slots are tight.
