Charging admission to the Freemont Street Experience is, IMHO, worse than "resort fees".

There is no attraction or event that could, or would be worth my paying any price that they can hold in that "venue" to get me to part with one cent, considering it's "public" land, and numerous other reasons.

Au contraire roadtrip.
I have been to 4 new year eve's on Fremont street and would pay $40 all day long to go again. I have seen big bands like Chicago(years ago),met Oscar Goodman at one, and other celebrities and seen a few boobies (ala the madi gras) Recent years they have scaled down to tribute bands and such but I would still go.
Part of the fee goes to security and trust me there is a shitload of security on Fremont street that night....again, this is something I am more than willing to pay for in this day and age
With that said, I have never actually paid to go on the street new years eve as the casino's that I stayed in (Plaza- Golden nugget) just give you the wrist band as part of the fee for staying there.
