Downtown Grand has Closed its Pit

Update on my 3rd and final redemption at DTG. Originally I was scheduled to leave Las Vegas on 9/30/15. However I extended my stay one extra day at a different hotel but I went back to DTG on 10/1/15 to see if my 3rd redemption of $165 was ready and it was. In addition, my slot card had another $30 in free slot play. On a 25 cent TDB machine I got a 4 Oak in aces for $200. So in conclusion I have received all 3 of my redemptions and my overall gambling tally is net positive playing that promotion. If you recall from my previous posts that my initial loss was $660. 1st redemption was $330, 2nd redemption was $163, and 3rd redemption was $163. Using the redemptions I got, $250, $500, & $200 back from wins. A grand from the Downtown Grand promotion turned out to be a pretty sweet deal for me.

the dealer-less craps games are great for someone wanting to learn the game without feeling intimidated. and you can sit out for a round or two if you wish. they don't usually earn points at the same rate of a slot machine, it is either reduced or not at all. a great way to get free drinks without spending too much.

I played the craps slot game once, pretty much out of curiosity. I was walking around trying to decide what to play, I had had my ass handed to me at every table game I had tried, so the low bets and something new seemed appealing. I agree that it was a little too fast to get my bets going, I missed betting a couple times completely. I think I lost twenty bucks, walked away and didn't have any desire to play it again, it was bedtime anyway. I can't say I'd never play one again, but I certainly wouldn't search it out.
I jst remembered, I tried the dealerless roulette years ago at the IP and lost a few bucks, had no desire to play those again, ever. Roulette has never been my game anyway.
This is a story some of you might like. One night while staying at the DTG, I decided to walk to the Glitter Gulch via the Fremont St Experience. A lady and I made eye contact and we both smiled and walked toward each other amidst the throngs of people. She asked if I wanted company. I asked if she could prove to me that she wasn't the law and to text me a naked pic of herself. Needless to say, I never went to Glitter Gulch that night and we went back to my room at DTG (lol).

I have had the first half of your story happen to me many times on Fremont street. Especially walking back after poker around 3 or 4 AM.

But I'm always paranoid they are going to pick pocket me.

DTG article today in LVRJ "We want gamblers."Article
THAT was a bunch of nothing. All fluff.
A few good points were aired.
What they are doing is NOT working.
Offer GOOD VP and they will come.
The pit has moved to make room for more slots. WRONG.

There was a comment or 2 made by a very well-read poster. Impressive.Puntuation was off,but good content.
I forgot to quote that person.
Like it was posted here, need a person with a clipboard to ask the gamblers"What's wrong with this place?"
I received an email today with DTG's room rates, when the $19 resort fee per night is added per night it kills it for me.

The Nov LVA newsletter indicates that the DG $1000 promo is done. It was good while it lasted. Not sure how those who still have redemptions will fare (ie, 2nd or 3rd redemptions). I've redeem all 3 of my redemptions so I'm not sweating it.
VegasDev, durham, and anyone else who have received the promotional fliers from DG, the free slot play on the flier and free dining credits are available even if you don't stay at the DG hotel. See page 2 of this thread for a picture of my offers. From Nov 8 thru Nov 10, I stayed at the Orleans. I wanted to stay at DG but they would not provide free rooms at DG so I stayed at Orleans (2 free nights). Out of curiousity I went to DG on Nov 8 and $30 of free slot play was on my slot account (after playing $1 through the machines). I also went back on Nov 9 and another $30 of free slot play was on my slot account. In addition, I had $20 in dining credits that I used at the S & O restaurant. So that being said, even though the free nights weren't not available DG is still honoring the $30 free play (twice) and the $20 dining credit. Oh and both times on Nov 8 & Nov 9, I self parked. The slot club provides validation if 50 points is earned during the visit which I earned both times. The validation needs to be taken to the valet booth whereby the valet attendant attaches a sticker to the parking ticket for free parking. I didn't win anything but DG is great with $60 in free slot play and $20 in dining credit. 2 free nights at DG would have been a lot better but I'm not complaining. A low roller such as myself takes whatever is available with gratitude.

thx for the info. that is good to know, and surprising. i'll be back in May, maybe April, so if they are still sending me offers I will give it a try. of course, it could be a whole new ballgame by then. I really liked my stay there, and I would love to stay again in a comped room.
