Downtown, Locals or The Strip (which one and why?)

Downtown, Locals or The Strip ?

Which one do you prefer, and why ?

My number 1 choice is the Locals Casinos (mostly The Orleans),
because the gamling and comps are usually better.

Downtown is my second choice,
with usually Main Street Station and the El Cortez getting most all of my play.

The Strip is now one part of Vegas that I almost never gamble,
but I still enjoy venturing there just to enjoy the special aura of Vegas.

Rick
Number one would be locals:Sams Town,Southpoint and M-Resort.
2nd would be downtown, mostly Main Street Station.
The strip is last, mostly for shows or just walking around.
Most of my play is Video Poker, have to go to the right places.
I play where I win.. Lately that translates to: Boulder Station, Tuscany, and El Cortez. My last 4 trips I've walked out of Boulder Station with more cash than I went in with. Its officially my number one place right now.
I prefer downtown first, then a satellite casinos (locals) second, and my last choice is the strip. For me it's not so much the comps, although I should do a better job of working on this, but instead I feel raped when I eat and drink on The Strip. Call me cheap, but I get irked with I order a regular hamburger, onion rings, and two beers and it costs me $35. It irks me when I get a nice steak, standard sides, and a couple of glass of wine and it costs me $135. I don't like paying $20 for a stiff vodka tonic.

I just want a reasonable deal, and I get that downtown. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge a casino for charging high prices if people are willing to pay high prices. I prefer that it's not me paying these prices, however.

The strip. Why else come to Vegas?
Actually I like some of the Boulder City / North Las Vegas places best for gambling:

Long Horn
Big Horn
Jokers Wild

But of the three choices, so I would rate Locals #1 followed by Downtown and then the overpriced strip.

Thanks Rick, for starting a thread about Las Vegas.

1. We like locals the best by far any more. Been staying at Sam's, walking to Eastside, taking their shuttle to DT or the rare time we want to go to the Strip. Also take the RTC to run the casinos on Flamingo--Gold Coast/Palms, over to Orleans on the Coast shuttle, back to Bally's, the walk to EI, Tuscany, SSevens. RTC to Sam's.

2. Preferred DT for years, but increasingly irritating resort fees and craziness at night, have put us off a bit, so we visit from Sam's as we need. Still go often to eat, use free play coupons, etc., and will stay again I'm sure.

3. Strip: Only if we take some one who has never been and specifically requests it. For example, took our 21y old g-daughter and her mother last year. Stayed at PHo. Nice room--expensive, pricy--very pricy--food, crowds, entitled and often drunk 20-somethings. Admittedly, they make us feel ancient--perhaps envious (?). To each his/her own, but the experience confirmed for us that the Strip is just not for us.

Thanks again Rick.

1. Downtown
2. Downtown
3. Downtown

That's where DonDiego's type of people hang.

Ref: Fremont Street
Ref: Longer Fremont Street
Gotta go with:

1. Locals (for a myriad of reasons)
2. Downtown (a nice change 'occasionally')
3. Strip (only if forced !)
Locals - Sams, Orleans, RR, Sunset and now BStation. Strip second with CET offers (prefer Rio). Havn't been downtown since Jan of 2014 when we took friends there.
Upcoming trip will be Sunset, RR & Rio...already locked in Boyd Emerald for next year.
