Downtown, Locals or The Strip (which one and why?)

After all, the Advisor has always been about saving money while enjoying what Vegas has to offer. Save some money, stay off strip and rent a car. You will enjoy Vegas more and spend less- trust me, I have been doing that for years. But to each their own....

Doc, so why do you criticize other people for spending their money as they see fit? I do things the way you do also, but I worry about my money only, not yours or anyone else's.

Why would Roulette use an inconvenient downtown parking garage in preference to a free and convenient downtown valet? Apparently I'm the idiot for not recognizing the obvious, but Boiler wishes that Roulette will clarify.

I only use valet now, but advocating that everybody use valet isn't feasible. I also remember the huge fiasco of self-parking before I learned the secret of Las Vegas valets. I wonder why Boilerman just doesn't get it?

I remember eating at Carson Kitchen last September. Carson Kitchen is a block and a half or so from Fremont. There of course is no valet. There is a parking lot across the street where you are on the honor system to pay. I asked our waiter if he parked there, and he asked me "Are you kidding?. He stated that his car would probably be broken into sooner or later. Remember, the neighborhood is not very good around downtown. He said he parked valet at a hotel and walked several blocks to get to his job.
The only place I valet downtown is Golden Gate because their valet lot is small and it only takes them a few seconds to get your car...not the 10 minute wait like some places.

I would guess that the "inconvenient downtown parking garage"
is actually at or near Roulette Man's casino of choice, and it is actually convenient ?

I don't go downtown very much, but I always valet. Downtown is near some very bad neighborhoods. I'd like to think my car has a little more protection with valet.

If we were to take the results of this thread, you would think that the majority of tourists would stay and gamble either downtown or at a local casino and would avoid the strip.

As I stated earlier, why bother coming to Las Vegas if you are not coming to the strip. Most states now have casinos comparable to the casinos downtown. Nothing in the US touches the strip.
I thought that you were complaining earlier about "self serve" parking downtown. Good choice on the valet.

A long time ago I always self-parked. I didn't make as much as I do today and I was under the wrong impression that valet in Las Vegas was like valet in any other state (ie expensive). My referrals to self-parking is primarily back in the 80's. Unless valet is full, I will always use it in Vegas, whether downtown or on the strip.
So you gave me shit after I challenged your 30 year old story? Interesting.
