Downtown Summerlin worth the trip ?

IS the new Downtown Summerlin worth the trip for shops, resatuants ?
No. It is a badly designed outdoor "mall" shopping center. I have found absolutely nothing interesting over there...then again, I am not a mall or shopping person. Assumed there would be a dsw over there somewhere, no. I am actually not sure what is over there still. I have met friends a time or two for lunch....and again, nothing spectacularly interesting. I find Town Square or even the outlets better laid out than this place. It is just a shopping area because Summerlin didn't really have one. Fashion Show is the most comprehensive shopping for a tourist or the outlets. The most relaxing outdoor walkabout would be Town Square. Charleston outlets are always insanely crazy with asian tour buses.

Andrew, Town Square is a few miles south of Mandalay Bay, and on the same side.
For a different dining experience there check out Texas de Brazil (a little pricey but unique).
There is also a HUGE Guitar Center, kind of hidden on the back side (if you're into music).

Daisybasket is correct in her assessment. I do not think the new Summerlin shopping area will impress you at all.

Thanks for the info re Town Square. Got a Groupon credit for there and knew it was in vicinity of strip but wasn't sure exactly where - now I know. Thanks. :-)
Is Downtown Summerlin worth the trip for shops and restaurants...........I happen to live just a few minutes away from DT Summerlin. I think it is very nice. As far as if its worth it in terms of shops and restaurants , I guess that depends where your head is at . They have an Apple Store and many great shops. IF you are staying at the RedRock and have a sizable win and want to give yourself a gift vs giving the $$ back to the casino and get some smoke free air...........not so bad. Should you feel like checking out Trader Joes ..........not so bad. Should you be with someone or alone and want to stroll.............once again not so bad. It might be a few bucks extra but they have a deluxe movie theater with reclining seats and good service. Should you feel like getting a nice pari of sunglasses( forgetting the fact that you can get them for less on line as well as any thing else.........maybe not a bad stop. Should your jacket or coat you have brought on your tip has seen better days their are a few options......Dillards Macys and more where you can get a new on and ditch the old one. It goes on and on . I happen to think Downtown Summerlin is very nice . I enjoy doing my walking their when the sun is not over head. On Saturday morning they have a produce market. Food wise their are a number of options from extremely reasonable to a bit more pricey. I could write more but have had my say and it is time to call it a day.
