The D's Coney Island Hot Dogs

OMFG! I'm from the New York area and this place is better, so much better, than anything on Coney Island.
welcome to detroit the better coney island is next door at the lafayette coney island on michigan ave.
Gotta love those Mich.style coney dogs.Do they serve beer at the D coney island?
I don't think so on the beer, but it IS connected to the casino. Worst comes to worst, buy a Heineken at Fremont Casino for $2 and walk in.

I ate there a couple of days ago, and it's certainly the best hot dog on Fremont - the sausage casing "snaps" when you eat it. Pretty tasty stuff, but also pretty pricey for the product.

Is it worth $4.05 (w/tax) for a hot dog with mustard and onions? Maybe for you, but not really for me. If I'm looking for a cheap dog, I'll stop by Mermaids a block down Fremont for a $1 Nathans dog.

Those $1.00 Mermaids (Nathan's) dogs are great, too...try the chili cheese fries at Detroit's, tho. You can bring your dog over and have the fries

Wow that's expensive. They are nowhere near that high in my area.

Mermaids!!!! are you kidding?
Mermaids for those of you that have not had the pleasure is a small, slot only casino with a small food court in the back where you can buy hotdogs, chili dogs fried twinkies/oreos, (road kill?) etc.

I have been there many times (drunkin LV stupers -dying for munchies) and have never seen the 4 or 5 stand up, elbow tables actually clean enough to eat at any one of them.(be prepared to clean it yourself) The floor is constanly filthy and reaching into the plastic "free for all" canister to get your unwrapped fork/knife that everone else sticks their hands into is.... well, you decide an report back!

And to boot, one of the more disgusting bathrooms in vegas are right beside (in?) the food court! Remember, this is a small area so the lingering aroma of urinal cakes and chili dogs was a real turn off for me.

Why anyone would recommend this place to anyone is beyond me!

Want a good dog in a place that you can sit down and enjoy yourself in? go next door from Mermaids to Binions (IMHO) or as this post suggests, go to the "D".....which I wll try in December

weggie

Can you us D comps at the hot dog place?
I know they also have a walk by window outside at the "D" and it was LOOOONG!
