DTG and MSS comparison .Caution: FOUL LANGUAGE!

Not a TR,just my opinions here.
2 days each comped at both properties.
M,T,W and Thursday-mid-week.

First impression of the Downtown Grand room: !WOW!
400 sq. feet and looks like new and very modern furnishings.
18th floor and what a view! R. 1802.

A tub/shower where the shower head was designed for an average sized human:6' up.

https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_50.jpg~original
Free WI-FI,ironing board, iron, hair dryer, big flat screen w/HD,separate partition for basin
and a lot of counter space, magnifing hand-held make up mirror, combination safe and plenty
of good lighting."10 of 10" ice bucket! My comped room was NOT charged the resort fee.($18).

Now,the less than satisfactory elements:
Bed was too soft.No fridge.
Room was too cold and there were no temperature controls, and the windows don't open.
Bring your PJ's.I used a bath towel to stay warm in bed.
Used the hair dryer to heat up the bathroom.YAY!

Don't turn off the switch in the hall by the bathroom,it controls the TV.
The music at night from the FSE was LOUD.The late-night bands speakers were aimed right down the street.
Hogs and Heifers was nothing.I didn't use the supplied ear plugs.
No room information in room,on paper.
TV guide or remote information/instructions,check out time.Usually noon.

The casino was cold,too!
I had to go outside a few times to get warm.
There was Mt. Dew in the gift shop for $3. YAY!
BJ was $15 for a 2 decker and $5 for a 6 decker,pays 3:2 for BJ.YAY!But just 2 tables workin'.
No craps,this time there.
VP was average pay tables.Caught a few quads.
Drank a lot of Coronas, but no drink holders at the BJ table. Weird.Maybe that's why I got cold, holding the bottle in my crotch.
I was the LAST "hot seat" winner to go into the whirlwind of cash plexiglass booth.$105 winner. YAY!
The machine went out the door the next day.Not because of me,certainly....

Coupon book was OK with a $10 and a $25 match play and a few food discounts.
I used the 15% off at The Commisary, across the street for sandwiches.
The parking facitility was not used.
A few quadsGreat photo,eh?).

That's about all for the "Grand".

Main Street Station evaluation, soon.(PS: I won there).

Some pleasant-sounding female asked me if
I was going to stay another night with us,through the crack in the door. The Downtown Grand wanted to be sure that I was awake,I guess.
I didn't trash the room and I left a small tip for housekeeping.I didn't even take the bottled water.
Check out was cool:NO resort fee for my comp stay, just a few room charges(Food).
I just wheeled my carry-on out the door towards the Main Street Station a few blocks away.Clack-clack,down the sidewalk.
It was just about 82* and I was already sporting a little sweat when I cruised through the California, over the sky bridge to the MSS.
I'd like to check in and do some laundry B-4 I go out again.
@ 12:30PM,it was too soon to expect my requested room to be ready and that's OK.
I gave her my ID and said that I would be back later. The bell desk, directly to the right side checked my carry-on.
OK,now what? Wednesday afternoon.
Too early for beer, but not for a little video poker, carrying my Mt. Dew.
An hour of financial abuse and that was a good time to go shopping on the FSE for another pocket T-shirt.I didn't bring enough of 'em.
Yeah, right!A pocket T-shirt? 6 places didn't have any until I asked at a shop that advertised 2 bottled waters for a buck.
I got a LUCKY T-SHIRT.https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_62.jpg~original

Wasting enough time on Fremont Street, back to see if I could get my room now.
"No,your room isn't ready yet.Can I get a dirty room?No,we can't give you a dirty room,Sir."
I took a smoking room on the freeway side.
First up:Mt. Dews at the gift shop on the way to the elevators.3 dews @$2.02 w/B connected card.
A little laundry and maybe a bucket of ice to keep 'em cool.
Got the ice and found that the room had a free refer. Still in DTG mode.

Next was to remove the window slider stop.A #2 Phillips head was all it took.
AH,the roar of the 1-15,trucks using their "jake brake" and Harleys accelerating....

Steak for lunch at the 777 brew pub and it was superb for $20 w/tip.
https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_60.jpg~original
No potatoe or green beans that was like silicone rubber.
Just the meat.

It was just about time to meet my buddy Steve, at Sam's Town.
It was Wednesday,Y.A.H. day with mystery point multipliers on slots and VP for 50+ players.
Walked over through the Cal to the valet entrance and caught the bus at exactly 4PM. 30 minutes no sweat, right to Sam's Town.

I wandered around on the main floor and found Steve pounding away at a double-double VP machine.
"Hey ya monkey-fucker,where ya been, how many beers have you had and let's party!"
Steve was ripped on his usual drug of choice and hyped-up like a maniac, talking and trying to make the right play on his machine, slapping 6 or seven buttons B-4 pushing the "draw" button and tapping to the casino music as well.
We played for a half hour and no joy,so I had a French dip at the deli/sports bar and Steve wandered off somewhere.
Found him playen' some triple play horse- crap VP,past the buffet.
No joy there,as well.
"Hey,I'll take you back to your place and then I can have ice cream at Lappert's in the Cal.Whenever you are ready,Dude."
He got a little Hyundai Accent for a rental and he drives like an idiot!
Out of the parking garage and there were cones all over hell.."We can't get the fuck outta here, those cock-suckers blocked off the way out!"Down a roadway and back around again, squealing the inside tire.
There were NO signs to get you out of the parking area,by the RV lot. Fine,I was still alive and not bleeding.
I tightened my seat belt as he tried to merge onto Boulder Highway.

"Get outta da way,ya fuck-weeds!"

Whew! We made it to the MSS parking lot and zipped over to the Cal for his ice cream and then over to the Boar's Head Bar for some 9/6 Video poker.
The ice cream made him tolerable,as long as he wasn't talking and waving his arms,it was good.
https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_64.jpg~original

I got a high roller beer and began to play.
Steve moved to the VP machines on the floor behind me. "Hey,I got a straight flush dealt to me!"
10 minutes later,"I got 4 4's!"
He forgot about the 'score with 4' scratch cards. Oh,well. He was up over $200 when he split.
I could not catch a quad.
Steve went back to Sam's Town to play some 10X points on a few machins and I banged away at the bar for another hour and 2 more High Roller beers.

No fun here, time for some craps.
The table was cool-looking with minimal players,so I tossed out my players card with a hundred.
"Cocktails?Sure,I'll have a Corona,please".(No lime).
The dice were cool and then they got HOT!
$10 pass lines and $100 odds and the commers the same way.4's,5's 9's and 10's! BOYEEEEE!
More Coronas.
Kept stuffin' the black chips in my pocket and was playen' greens for a while and then went back to black chips.

The rest, I don't remember very well.
I remember asking for security: "I need help".
Got me a ride in a wheelchair back to my room and yakked into the toilet.

Thursday AM sometime,I saw that the security dudes closed my window and then went to check my wallet and found an extra $500 and 4 black chips.
https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_65.jpg~original

I guess it really WAS a lucky shirt:https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_63.jpg~original
Took a photo of the shirt, too.

Thursday was a Mt. Dew mornin' and another steak for breakfast at the 777.
A little video poker and then back to Sam's Town to see what Steve was up to. A LOT,I found out.

He caught a progressive royal for $1,240 and had to fill out that form.
He showed me his stack of Franklins B-4 he stashed most of 'em in the room safe.
Back down for some more Video Poker and we both had a few good hits.
I cashed out +$100 and so did Steve.

"I wanna see the new place, the Shake Shack",next to New York New York,Phil want me to check it out to see if it's worth investing some stock in."
OK,we're goin'.

Another hair-raising ride in the little shit-box car,OH JOY!
The NY NY place is a monster!
We had to ask directions out of the place!

The Shake Shack has really got something going here.
The single burger was great! 5 forks,as Westie would say.
I'll get the double,next time,no red things,please.
https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_zps6qbkp5ly.jpg~original

Back to the MSS for another $100 win. Gee! https://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t345/ddd228/temporary_58.jpg~original

Friday,AM:
Check out: no fee=FREE stay.
Steve took me to Mc Carren. Nice guy.
Alaska flight was fine.Just 2 hours to Seattle.
Tired when I got home from the walking, yesterday.
Slept 12 hours. I have a real washer and dryer at home.
A real keyboard and I missed it.

Sorry for the swear words, that's the way Steve talks!
Me too.

I'll go again for my buddies wedding anniversary on February 29th for a week.
It's a leap year and I can wear long johns,my camos and a sweat shirt.
Maybe some craps at the MSS...

thx for the TR.
its good to know that DTG does not charge the resort fee on comped rooms. I may be staying there in august or sooner
match play coupons on a comped room.. sounds like icing on the cake.
needing a bigger money clip... I wish I could find myself in a bind like that.
not being able to control the room temp sucks. a lot.
your wins at the crap table sounds like much fun.
it sounds like you may have been a lil buzzed, be careful, there are plenty of opportunists that would love to take advantage of your buzzed state. I am very glad you found more money when you woke up and not less.

thanks for a great post as always!!

You very easily could have left out the filth that spewed from you friends mouth in your otherwise nice trip report.

Yes,I was beyond "buzzed",so I called for security.
I needed help and I got it. My alchohol limit was exceeded.

No need to offend, Drmilled. I'll make that an "R" rated thread,OK?
Filthy language is more colorful.Explicatives are descriptive.
I choose to use those words because that's the way I talk.Lazy,I guess.
My total vocabulary is less than 5,000 words.
I'm sorry those words were not acceptable.(Not really).
About being buzzed: I was cautioned by a fellow VP player at the bar to CASH OUT when you need to take a bathroom break.(OFTEN).
Too easy for the person that was sitting right next to you to cash out your money and split.
I'm too trusting. Guilty of that habit way too often, guys.

Once bitten,twice shy.
Ain't been bit,yet.
ddd228- you seem to forget that not all who read these postings care for filthy language. What you and your friend deem as "colorful" is actually crude and unnecessary. Since when did good manners and civil language become the exception, instead of the rule? For some reason, I feel I am wasting my time explaining the obvious to one who really does not care. (Really)

Good manners and civil language? You name call and insult on this forum all of the time. You can not be serious. If you are, please take a look back at some of your posts.
liondownnow- Any "name call" and "insult" that you say I post is, in reality, the truth. I call it as I see it and if doing so equates to an "insult", so be it. I will always voice my displeasure to the liars, and the foul mouthed. If you have a problem with that - to bad.

I do not have a problem with it. I will say that good manners and civil language do not equate with calling it as you see it. Why do you want somebody else to do it if you do not do it yourself?
