I too believe homosexuality is an abomination and a sin though it is not a fear or aversion. I have family members that are gay. I have good friends that are gay. I have next door neighbors who are gay. They are all good people....and sinners, just like me.

This is absolutely is an irrational fear and aversion. Abominations are "things that cause disgust or hatred". That's calling an entire group of people disgusting....based on what exactly? Their merits as individuals? No. Based on what is likely a genetic predisposition to be attracted to people of the same sex. Would you not be a racist if you said 'All blacks are an abomination?'. How can you not be a homophobe if you believe all gays are an abomination?

I don't see any other context for this unless you want to argue that disliking gays is the will of God. I'm not sure we want to go there....and Yeah...I get that you're trying to separate gay people from gay sex....and you don't really think you think all gay people are disgusting

Take Boilerman's comment on this very thread. "So dislike is equal to phobias or hates". When you're talking about disliking people you've never met based solely on the sex of their partners then yeah...that's exactly what it is. It's like disliking people based on their skin color or nationality.

I actually thought I was starting a Vegas thread. I thought everyone pretty much agreed that Robertson is in fact a homophobe since he was suspended from his job for making anti-gay comments. On a brighter note, I also said they were 'lovable characters'....Ok that might have been some sarcasm.

I had trouble finding the quote so I am going from memory, and can quite possibly be wrong. But, I believe the duck guy's statements were that homosexuality was a sin against God but that as a Christian he loves all gay people. And then he fell off into a bunch of swamp talk gibberish. I remember hearing the quote and thinking that it was pretty spot on but not well said.

I personally try not to hate or abhor anyone, especially not an entire group. Though I must admit I have some trouble on an individual basis. I certainly wouldn't want to dislike someone based on their particular sin, being that I'm a pretty big sinner myself. Lest I be judged, casting the first stone and such.

Your reply to my comment gave me pause and I thought deeply about my own feelings. After reflection, I do not believe I am a homophobe. Though I shouldn't presume to know the mind of another I just didn't believe that Robertson's comment made him a homophobe. Perhaps I read too much of my own beliefs into his comment.
