1. I think it's great that you actually reflected on the topic. Most people are so set in their thinking that they refuse to even consider another viewpoint. Things have changed so much and so quickly in our communal thinking about gays that in 20 - 30 years they'll just be people.
2. Hijacking? No problem. I inadvertently created the controversy by calling them Lovable Homophobes.
3. How does something like this musical get Ok'd and why? I'm guessing the Rio is trying to latch on to an untapped demographic. There is no question Duck Dynasty has a loyal following.
