Lions want us to keep hoping for next year. My husband says it has been the same old Lions since '57.

Your husband is right.SOL. Going on 58 years now.The Lions won 3 championships during the 50's then the Ford family bought the team and destroyed it. Was hoping the "curse" died with the old man last year.Guess not.

Break out the grocery sacks - for both the Lions and Saints.

Buy stock in them things. The Giants and Eagles fans will need some.

Lions are now the only winless team. I was right. Bears are a lot better.
And they had some substantial injuries tonight. Will they win a game?

I was surprised m-tron even tried to score. Thought he would have sat at the 1 to kill some clock.
The curse of Bobby Layne still lives on with the Detroit "Dandelions" Almost 60 years of football futility. How can a team be so bad for so long?
They always try to score. The officials missed the illegal bat in the end zone! That would have given the Lions the ball at the one. With all this fancy replay and as many officials that are on the field how do ALL OF THEM MISS THIS?
Bad calls are part of the game, seems Seattle has had some "nice" calls go their way on Monday nights

Until last night, it seems like the NFL officials kind of got their act together. When one of them made a bad call, many times there would be a conference held and they would pick up the flag. There was no excuse for last night. The ref even had his eyes on the ball when it was batted.

It was speculated that he didn't do anything because it was the end of the game or because he didn't know the rule.

RM, if he does not know that rule he should be let go! I officiated high school for better than 15 years and I knew that rule plain and simple. Speculation on this might well be what happened but you would hope at that level they should have at least concurred and had a conference with each other.

It is a fast game and much can be missed. It will never be perfect. Just bad for the Lions who really needed a win.
Poor old DonDiego was watching the game last hight, because he needed Detroit Running Back Ameer Abdullah to score 2 points to win a fantasy game. [He scored 4 points, so all is well.]

DonDiego had thought the National Football League had set up a process that during the games League Officials were to be watching all the games in progress at a location in Manhattan, and observing all the calls. If any call was incorrect the League Officials in Manhattan were to step in and correct it.

This apparently did not happen last night.

While listening to The NFL Channel on Sirius this afternoon, the folks stated that the League had said that they will not review "judgement calls". Why not? If it's wrong, it's wrong. The League admitted today it was wrong. So if a similar blown call should happen again, do not expect the League to correct it. So, what's the point of having officials in Manhattan watching the games real-time?
