East Coast LVA Members! We're thinking of you.

We lost power for about 30 minutes last night but it seemed like hours.

My in-laws and some coworkers are without power.

I made out very lucky with this storm. The rainfall was much less than predicted at my house.
Governor Christie just had a press conference. The shore took the brunt of the storm. Up in the Northern shore apparently beach homes have washed off of their foundations and are sitting on State Highway 35. A lot of the barrier islands are not accessible yet. The governor is go to fly over the shore area to access the damage.

I have power (so far) but the news is saying about 100,000 dont have power in new hampshire.

I have a couple of contruction friends that are hoping it blows the roof off every house in the state!

Wishing for misfortune of others to make a profit.
Nice.

Tell your construction friends to watch out for Hurricane Karma.

But..but, treegirl, I thought you too young to understand such matters. hehe(couldn't resist)

Hang in there guys, thinking about all of you. We just dodged things in NC.

The shoreline of Long Island Sound was hit very hard. Hubby was out working all night,(works for the local gas compan) said Milford, CT was like a war zone...houses washed away, ripped apart, boats on streets, very bad.

Inland, lots of trees down. Lots of people without power still. Some school systems closed school already for tomorrow. Halloween trick or treating is being postponed in some communities due to unsafe conditions. We did have at least 2 fatalities in CT One was a volunteer firefighter. He died when a tree fell on his truck...very very sad.

Here in Southern Maryland, we are OK. But our friends in NY and the coast of NJ haven't fared as well. We wish them our best!!
I am on the east coast; in Virginia. But, in the middle of the state; so we had nothing more than a bad rainy day and night.

But, I feel so terribly bad for the people in NY and NJ. They got hammered!

I have a real hard time imagining the casinos in AC opening back up as quickly as they claim they are.

My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone in those areas and in the path of the storm.

Lol. It was over my head but took a chance I understood.

Most know what i do for a living by my screen name and mentioning my family's business.
I am not looking forward to the clean up work we have scheduled for the money.
I am looking forward to making those affected by Sandy a bit happier.

Most of the emergencies calls were trees fallen on cars. One car my dad and brother went to do was in the middle of the street with a tree dead centered on the drivers seat. The guy jumped out when he saw trees down the street snap like they were twigs. He said within a minute his car was hit. He would not have made it out without severe injury or worse.

My h2b is a police officer and has been working round the clock.
I have a dawn to dusk schedule.

I am thankful we didn't get it any worse than we did and I pray for those who were.

Received this e-mail on Nov 1st from my Caesars host.... Think I'll just wait a while longer before heading back with an influx of cash:

The following is a statement released at 8:03 PM last night by Thomas R. GIlbert of the New Jersey Attorney General Office:

"The entire oceanfront Boardwalk in front of the Atlantic City casinos is undamaged, with all dunes and lights intact. There is minimal to no visible damage to casinos and other businesses fronting the Boardwalk along the ocean. The Atlantic CIty Boardwalk that was washed out by Huricane Sandy is in an area limited to the Boardwalk fronting the Absecon Inlet only. That small section of Boardwalk is located in South Inlet, a prominent residential section of Atlantic City. It is a small stretch of Boardwalk that is being shown in video footage and photos."

The following information was provided directly to us in a conference call with Senior Members of the Caesars Entertainment Corporation, directly from Atlantic City:

Minimal, superficial damage only to the three Caesars Entertainment casinos on the Boardwalk - Caesars, Bally's & Showboat.
Minimal damage to Harrah's casino at the Marina, although some minor roof damage was experienced.
Casinos and hotels are expected to reopen to guests on Friday, November 2, with all public spaces available to guests except Sammy D's restaurant at Harrah's.
Junket flights from our area will continue as scheduled throughout the month of November.

Thanks again to everyone for their concern about the greatest gaming city in the US - Atlantic City New Jersey!
