How come you do not gamble and eat at SP. Nearly all the food options are Good to Excellent and the gaming (VP especially) beats nealy every other place into submission.
We've always found SP to be not only good gaming wise but the food (& options) are GREAT.
Just sayin'....but each to their own.
Thanks for reading the TR. To answer your questions:
We really like staying at the South Point as it is one of the nicest of the locals casinos, however, I exclusively play FPDW which is not offered. My wife plays both FPDW and NSUD so she is happy to gamble there.
You may be misinterpreting my ratings which is understandable since even my wife disagrees with me. I am notoriously tough in assigning ratings so on a scale from 0-5, a 3 Fork rating is pretty good. I seldom award a 5 so 4.5 falls into the category of excellent. 2.5 is a restaurant well worth a return visit.
We have dined at all Don Vito's, Del Mar Deli, Primarily Prime Rib, Baja Miguel's, Garden buffet and the Silverado numerous times and feel each is solid and offer good value. I find it boring to keep returning to the same restaurants so I am always happy to try something new. In addition, we frequently find a better alternative that also offers a discount. Sort of a win - win.
Some examples - Bratalian turned out to be head and shoulders better than Don Vito's and it participates in restaurant.com. Austin's (Texas Station) is a few steps up from the Silverado and I was able to combine both the MRB coupon with a gift card. Baja Miguel's is Tex-Mex, while I prefer the more authentic Los Antojos, Los Molcajetes or Tacos el Gordo. On the negative side, I discovered Don Vito's is much better than Pasta Cucina even factoring in the discount.
FWIW - Here are the range of ratings that I have accorded the South Point's restaurants in the past:
Don Vito's - 3 visits all rated 3
Primarily Prime rib - 4 visits - ratings 1.5, 2.5, 3 and 3.5
Siverado - 3 visits, 3, 3, and 3.5
Baja Miguel - I don't have earlier ratings, but the most recent was a 2 back in Dec 2010
As you may have surmised from reading the TR, we enjoy experiencing cuisines from other cultures (Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Tapas, northern Italian etc.) that you just cannot find in most casino/hotels.
As you say - every one to their own.
