el cortez tower rooms

how would you rate these rooms compared to the pavillion or vintage? i heard from some people that even if you ask for non smoking that some still smell like smoke. thanks for your help.
The tower rooms are far superior to Vintge and Pavilion. The few times I stayed there I didn't notice any more smoke than at 4Q, Fitz, or any other "non-smoking" rooms which, over the years, attract a certain number of "cheaters".

Unlike the V and P, the Tower rooms are spaceous, and have a sitting area in addition to the bedroom area. They are newer and have an elevator instead of just a staircase. In V and P rooms you feel like you are "slumming". In tower rooms you feel like you are in a regular modestly priced room. Unless you are on a super tight budget, I think the difference in price is worth it.

Very well put, could not agree with you more.
I haven't been in the Vintage or Pavillion rooms. The tower rooms are decent. Clean and comfortable, but not a 'luxury' experience.

If you can, try and get a 'deluxe room' in the Cabana Suites building. They're not suites (and in fact they're smaller than the tower rooms), but they're still pretty new, the entire building is non-smoking (so no worry about smoke smell), and I like the whole package a lot better than the tower.

After the tower rooms were renovated a couple of years ago the tower was then made completely non smoking.

The 3 times I stayed in the tower I didn't enounter any smoke smell in the room. On one stay when I did open the window in my shower area (opened it to dry off some clothes I washed) I did smell some smoke but I'm not sure if it was from another room or just the outside area. It is possible that some try to get away with it by smoking and blowing out the window or something but I think when I checked in they gave me some kind of notice that said they would charge the person a cleaning charge if they did smoke in the rooms. That may have been not long after they renovated so not sure if they still warn guests now.

The regular tower rooms are one of the larger rooms downtown, second in size only to the GN rooms.
Most of the rooms have a lounging area with a couch and a coffee table. They are much larger than the vintage or pavillion rooms.

While the cabana suites were recently renovated they are still much smaller than the tower rooms, although they are much nicer and have an exercise room and a lot more expensive.
