Elderly Ft. Lauderdale Man Arrested for Feeding the Homeless

What do you guys think about this, Arnold Abbott arrested for trying to feed the homeless..

They violated a known ordinance, probably enacted for sanitation purposes.
Sometimes you really cannot fight city hall.

Could they not have opened a space in the church (since it said at least one minister was involved)? They they probably could serve the all the food they want without interference.

No good deed goes unpunished.

There's a whole big back story to this. From what I read, it's not a sanitation purpose at all. The city is working to make their city homeless unfriendly in the hopes that the homeless will go someplace else. The city thinks this 90 year old man (God bless him) is creating a homeless attraction destination by feeding them.

"But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

On the other hand, the City does have a point. If the poor are not fed, they won't need a toilet:
"But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, . . . but be sure to provide a toilet or you're going to jail."

Sometimes it's a real puzzlement, . . . trying to know what is right.

Living in the "vicinity" of Fort Lauderdale, there is a back story to the "homeless" situation, feeding, housing, medical care, etc.

There appears to be no middle ground, or compromises, between the homeless advocates, and the city government. Been dragging on for years.

Sad, but true.
