ESPN has just reported that Jim Tressel of Ohio State has resigned.

Of course I wonder if he resigned or was given the ultimatum of being fired?
Love him or hate him, he definately changed things around and made the bucks a contender every year.

More than likely that's exactly what happened.
Only 6 months too late to lend any credibility to Ohio State or the NCAA.

Snidely, I would wager that OSU isn't the only guilty of what they did, they just got caught.

I figure that most of the Division 1 schools are doing something illegal when it comes to their sports programs. I mean look at the Florida schools, Miami, FSU, and Florida Gaters all were after thugs. Down there arrest records don't matter much if your an all state player.
Auburn is next on the clock.
$$$ corrupts.

I would make the same wager chef. I have to laugh at some of the OSU fans on certain sports-related boards who are so high and mighty about OSU being squeaky clean. I will have to admit that the OSU players appear to be less criminal-like than many of the SEC teams and the Florida schools that you mentioned. Student and Athlete are mutually exclusive terms for some of these players.
Devastating to #1 Buckeye fan.
Buick Riviera now Chevrolet Vega?
As a die-hard Buckeye fan, I have mixed emotions on this. I believe Tressel to be a very good football coach and for that reason will miss him on the sidelines. However, with everything that has transpired it's time to move on and do some serious house cleaning. The tattoo-5? Let them go. AD Gene Smith - has to be held accountable as well. Give the program an enema and deal with the penalties. Forfeiting 2010 and possibly earlier games, loss of scholarships, banned from post-season play for a few years, less TV time....whatever it needs to be. OSU deserves it. The "everyone else does it but we got caught" line just does not sit well with me. THE Ohio State University (along with most Big 10 schools) are supposed to be above this. We're not in the SEC nor are we USC - where scandals are regular, unsurprising news. Which is why this is big news - it's Ohio State. We were supposed to be about honor and integrity - what a dissapointment.

Finally, a legit reason for all the haters to trash the Buckeyes. Jump on the dog pile, join in the fun. It may be a few lean years but the Buckeyes will climb back to national prominance so get your licks while you can.

Forever and Always - I remain a fan of THE Ohio State University Buckeyes.
