...it just seems to rocket to a new high shortly thereafter! Never fails. Some retired Shell guy seems to think the same way as he is predicting $5 gas soon!

That's amazing. We're still at about $2.10 which is about $2.00 below our previous high.

There are competing pressures on the market right now

The arabs continue to pump more oil in order to keep market share. venezuela russia and iran need to keep pumping oil in order to keep their countries afloat. This will continue to put downward pressure on prices as supply grows.

Conversely other countries and companies are starting to take their rigs off line as the price is below the cost to extract.

Oil came down a lot quicker than anyone expected. If the tide turns, look for it to turn quickly.

cheap gas = road trip to Las Vegas!

Look for gasoline prices to stay relatively affordable for the majority of this year. A tick upward for the summer driving season would not surprise me tho.

In my county, here in NE Illinois, you can find gas tonight from anywhere between $1.78 to $2.15 a gal for 87 octane unleaded. Even a short drive of 3 or 4 miles will find a .25 to .30 cent difference in the price.

My cousin in NJ said he paid 1.76 a gallon in Edison, NJ last week! The best we have in CA. is 2.25

The cheapest I've seen it in the last two weeks in Colorado was $1.60/gallon. It has gone up a little in the last week, but most stations are still selling at $1.75 or less.
