Excalibur reviews

I'm just wondering if anybody has eaten there?

Overpriced, food was just OK. The Gimmick (the rudeness) is fun though. Imagine working in a customer service related job and have to deal with "idiot customers" and what you'd like to have said to them... they get to, and do, even if you are not being an idiot.

They kind of treat you the same way most of the Excaliber staff treated me about 15 years ago when I stayed there one time. Not kidding.
It is what it is. It's not the Wynn or Aria or Ceasar's Palace so don't expect that even in a renovated room. It's been clean every time we have been there. Granted there are better buffets on the strip but The Sherwood Cafe is good and besides you are so close to the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and the MGM if you want more upscale food choices. I guess what I'm saying is you want clean and just a decent place to sleep like we do it's fine. We don't actually spend that much time in the room so we like to spend our money enjoying the shows, good food, and gambling instead of wasting in on an expensive room when we aren't in it all that much except for to shower and get a few hours of sleep.

In the end you have to decide if you want an upscale experience or not and if you do change hotels but there really isn't anything all that bad about the Excalibur if you are just looking for a shower and a bed as I said it's always been very clean when we've stayed there but it's definately not an upscale hotel.

Edited to add: I forgot about the location. It's a great location!!!!!
Stayed at Excal in November for 7 nights (Thursday-Wednesday).

The only real negative was the clientele Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights was downright SCARY. There were two distinct groups: 1) single women with multiple unattended children raising total hell; or 2) thugs. Sunday-Wednesday nights were fine, patron-wise.

A slight negative is the fact that we stayed in the absolute cheapest rate room. The furnishings were quite dated and scratched. I subsequently learned if we had taken the $10 extra/night upgraded "widescreen" room, the decor/furnishings would have been much more modern.

The positives were: the room was clean, the casino had several of the machines I liked, and most of all - location, location, location. My personal preference is to stay on this end of the Strip.

I'd stay there again (even risking the clientele) but get at least a widescreen room.
Thugs? Who woulda thunk? Excal never ever seemed like that kind of place, granted only been thru it a few times. That surprises me.

JOHN

Thanks. Seems like I made a pretty good choice. I had my doubts with some of the reviews.
The thugs upgraded from circus circus.
The rooms in Tower 2 have been the most recently upgraded. Clean, comfortable beds and flat screens. There are worse places to stay on the Strip.

Coffee shop is now closed and I'd give the buffet a miss.

Camelot restaurant was better than I expected.....reasonable value for the money.

" Ditto " Dan, I have always stayed in Tower II and founnd it clean, spacious,& the right price (comped) A couple of weeks ago in June I played the 8/5 VP prog. at the Sherwood Forest Bar... The prog. was around $2179 when I left Wed.the 22nd and heard the machines calling out for Dan & Barb to play with them... Richard from Ca.
If you don't mind me asking what are the room rates. You may get a better place for only $10-$20 per nt. with great pool.

Thanks,

Sorry, don't know...never paid for a room there. However, two weeks ago, MB was $49/$49/$59 for a Monday-Wednesday night stay. Never got into the discussion re: resort fee as the person I was booking it for opted out. I'm not sure if this was a "Platinum" member rate or if this was the going rate that anyone could get. I'm thinking that the Excal would have to be $10-15/nt. cheaper.
