Failed Rescue of an American in Yemen?

Well, aside from this being yet another black mark on the tortured soul of our first black president, what was the point of the attempt? He put some of our finest military men in harm's way, and all for what? Some glory-hound/attention-seeking "journalist"?

Anyone stupid enough to go to a country like Yemen for any reason at all deserves nothing more than a decent burial when they're beheaded. We should enact a policy that we NEVER go in after anyone who goes to such barbaric countries other than for official US Gov't. business. Now we have to go through days of coverage of a story no one really cares about. Really, who cares what goes on or doesn't go on in a backwards Muslim country? Which makes it all the more nonsensical that ANY American would ever even think about travelling there.

Enough of this foolishness!

Apparently Americans have not gotten the message that Yemen and other middle eastern countries don't like us. I feel bad that he was murdered by these animals, but I have no sympathy for anyone who ignores the facts that these animals will murder us if given the chance. Life is all about choices. Why anyone would put their life in harm's way is beyond me.

As much as I agree with your question of what the hell was this guy doing over there to start with, I disagree with a few other points.
#1 I am a staunch Republican but in no way is this Obamas fault. He should and does get the blame for 98% of what is wrong with America (including Ferguson)but I don't think he was wrong here. I would MUCH rather do something and fail than do nothing ala the 1990's under Bill Clinton and be attacked over and over cumulating with 9-11
#2 Our military is 100% volunteer, I was in the navy and my son spent 2 tour in Iraq. When my son joined in the middle of not one but two wars it was a family decision (his mom of course was a dissenting vote) knowing that is what the military is used for...going into harms way when the President deems it necessary
#3 "the point" that you asked about, IMHO was that if you kidnap an American, you will not get money or glory or anything else you will get death......leave us alone!
On a side note......watch Captain Phillips (great movie) the seals are just bad ass!

erst solution is that the United States make Yemen one huge sand trap.......No more lost of American lives...Those poor people over here are living in fear 24/7 and that is not a life. In the process you rid yourself of a group of people that have no business breathing air in the first place.
