favorite "money"

thanks roadtrip I saw the link but I was interested in more info about the $50 being unlucky because of Grant and the South. So I am interested in more info. The story I head as a kid was that cab drivers confused $5 bills with $50 bills and in the dark would hand out $50s as change instead of $5s. There was also some talk that the same problem happened at race tracks. Growing up in NYC a lot of folklore was spread or originated in taxis and race tracks. I remember when horse racing was the #1 spectator sport in America... more people went to tracks than any other sport venue even baseball and football.

Now speaking of "unlucky money" I wonder how the Asians will feel about the new $100 bills with the big blue stripe on the front. I just looked at Wikipedia about "lucky colors" and sure enough there is a problem with blue. Here is the link about color in Chinese color. and here are some photos of the new $100 bill. Look at the government video lower on the page too.
$50's have been fairly unlucky for me, I have been on the recieving end of a few that began life as a $5.
double zero... what did they do to alter the 5s... did they bleach them or what?

Thats what they told me at the bank they had been bleached and reprinted. There must have been quite a few out there at the time I got stuck with four of them , they all came in the door of my retail business at different times over the course of about a month.

were these before or after the "security threads" ??
My favorite monies...in no particular order.

Easy money

Somebody else's money

It was after the security threads it should have never happened more than once just a case of employees being lackadaisical.
Now that you mention it, I don't see many $50's as compared to $100's. The bank of course has them but unless you ask they typically give you $20's.

My mom has a 1934 $ 1,000. bill. She received it from her dad just before he died. Pretty cool.
that thousand dollar bill is worth a LOT of money. Even in bad condition collectors will pay a premium for it.

Every time I visit a cage in Vegas I ask if they have any 500s or 1000s. Of course the answer is "no" but sometimes the cage employee will smile and say something like "I wish." Once an employee at a casino told me that a 1000 did come in and the tellers have an agreement about "buying it" and then selling it and splitting the profit.
