Iceland did have a financial crisis. Thought they were in the group

Yes they did Hoops, yes they did indeed! They had a huge financial crisis as a direct result of our banks going belly up. You know, because your good friend George Bush Jr. thought (almost) every American should be able to buy a property and get a mortgage....And a big thank you to Wall Street as well. When the "investment climate" went south, stock went down down down and banks in Iceland went belly up too.......A large amount of European citizins lost over $100.000 each in savings because of the way we did business in this country, not because of their social democratic political system. Burp..........
I'm not so sure of LurkerPoster's claim about the Netherlands(Holland)offer of help after Hurricane Katrina being turned down.

Link I easily found other websites where it stated their help was not turned down.
So after 8 years of Obama how do you explain the underperforming European economy?

Yup, the Dutch government had to insist big time. It was all over the news in Holland how our government rejected help initially. I know for a fact because I was there visiting friends when it happend. And on an official government website, talking about international alliances, a country will not mention the number of hoops they had to jump through before the help was ok-ed. And the cooperation has had its ups and downs ever since. But Holland is a very loyal ally so they choose their words wisely.

There really isn't something called the European economy. Economic results vary enormously. The German economy is very strong while Spanish economy is weak. You are painting with a very wide brush. It's easy to make statements about European economics in general but that's only because there's a European Union. Fact is France and Poland are very different, Spain and Germany are very different, Austria and France are very different, ect. But let me answer your question. Why is our economy underperforming? Maybe it's because Republican's main goal has been to block Obama and whatever he tried to do as much as possible. And the American and "European" economy are very much connected. That explains a lot.....

Yep, you're right LurkerPoster. I'll go with you visiting friends during/after Katrina and not with the Right Wing rag from the Netherlands Embassy who said "within hours" help was administered.

Again, you're right Lurker and have a nice day.

JM2300 You don't have to believe me, I don't give a rat's ass if you do. Help was administered "within hours". Well, let's go back to the second invasion of Iraq then. The Dutch government said it was not involved in the initial military actions (during the second invasion of Iraq). Holland had "no boots on the ground". A couple of hours later there was a press conference on TV (it was CNN I believe) where General Petraeus (at least I think I remember it was him) was explaining some of the military actions of the last couple of hours. Standing on his left was a Dutch Navy Colonel. That turned into quite a public scandal because according to the Dutch government they "weren't officially there yet". Dutch people received very clear evidence that their government lied about the military activities in the early stages of the second Iraq invasion. Guess what, governments aren't completely honest about everything all the time. Is that so surprising to you? Are you that gullible? Why do I know these things? I have family and friends living there and we talked about this through skype when it happend. You know, there are things they don't tell you during the 8 o'clock news.....

But if you want to live in fantasy land and believe governments are always completely honest with us..........be my guest. It's a comfortable and safe feeling, I understand that.
One thing I can agree with, I don't think our Govt. is truthful whatsoever to us lowly civilians. I believe they try to control the population into whichever way they want us swayed.
Just made me think of the Obamas promise on the "most transparent" admin. ever, ranked up there with the "no lobbyists'" promise too.
Liar liar pants on fire. Is there a Lib in the group who cares? I think not.
