FCC sacks NFL blackout rule

It won't happen right away, but the FCC got this one right.

This ruling is a huge loss to the residents of Jacksonville which soon may be subject to Jaguars home games on TV on Sundays.

Hey. That new quarterback has some potential. You could be a resident of Oakland.
It was a coin flip between the Jaguars and Raiders on that quip. Lol ... But I used to live in the Bay area and those fans are rabid. Jacksonville strikes me as being more indifferent.

While I don't like black outs, why the hell is the FCC telling a company that it MUST broadcast. Government, get the hell out of the way!

Thats not the ruling. Cable companies want to broadcast the games...the nfl teams have prevented them from doing so in the past. The FCC is telling the team owners they cant do that now. I think its a great move...especially as someone who lives in Indianapolis. We got screwed on Lucas Oil Stadium. Taxpayers funded nearly all the money for the stadium...and the Colts get all profit from the concession stands even for non-Colts events. The least they can do is let us watch the home games.
PJ, I don't believe that we should desire that the government mandate that companies do what the public desires. The government should limit itself to Constitutionally legal positions.

I find that Liberals don't care about constitutionality, but instead argues that "I want to watch football on Sunday". Why must the NFL do this? Must they also give away 25% of their seats to the poor? Must the Colts be mandated to build facilities in the "inner city" because folks "want it"? Are there any limits what the government can mandate that a company do because the people want "free shit"?

The blackout circle is supposed to be a 75 mile radius. I live over 130 miles from San Diego, yet I'm subject to their rules including playing SD games when the network may be showing another game or to blacked out Charger games. I'm blacked out because I live in L.A. County and I'm guessing one small portion of L.A. County may be around 75 miles away from San Diego. I don't know if this will fix the Charger black outs or not.
It's all about the money.
