I would ask Mr. Alan Leroy to cite specific quotes from Mr. De Blasio or an actual new article (rather than an editorial) describing the behavior of Mr. De Blasio that Alan Leroy finds to be provocative.

I'll do that when Mr Malibber2 cites an actual news article that describes the NYPD turning their backs on the Mayor as simply a reaction to the Mayor ending the 'Stop and Frisk' Policy as he claims.

Don't consider yourself with the truth, Hoops. It's far more important to be politically correct.

In 2014 shooting victims increased by 7.2% over 2013. Stop, question & frisk was used as a deterrant to shootings

Mr. malibber2 was merely attempting to find some evidence that supported Mr. Hoops2's claim earlier in this thread that " ...[he] does not have any respect for the police and has been disparaging them for the past year."

When searching the Internets investigating this claim that the mayor doesn't have any respect for the police and had been disparaging them for the last year all malibber2 could find were vague claims that the police were angry over stop and frisk and that the Mayor had advised his son to be careful when he was around the police. But I will agree with the larger point Mr. Alan Leroy seems to have inadvertently made in that there appears to be no evidence anywhere that Mr. De Blasio has engaged in any behavior that a normal and rational person would find provocative.

Please note, that I did not say that I found anything to be provocative. I described what many NYPD officers 'perceive' to be attacks from the mayor. I have divined that from numerous interviews and editorial comments from actual NYPD police officers. Not one of them cited the end of 'Stop and Frisk' as the reason they are upset with the mayor.

I did draw the conclusion that Mayor De Blasio has in fact not been a good agent for change and is not supported by many if not most of the rank and file of the NYPD. I base that on...well obvious.

A combination of statements and actions

deblasio told his son to be wary of the police because he is black.

He did not speak out when the mobs were chanting kill the cops

He reappointed the judge who released without bail 2 men threatending to kills police

He says the force needs to be retrained and then brags about how crime has dropped.

What would your description be of someone that would be a good agent of change to confront the racist law enforcement practices of the NYPD? Or wouldn't you change them?

There was no shortage of angry, white cops when our government forced white schools in Alabama to accept black students. I don't recognize Lyndon Johnson as a poor agent of change based upon ignorant peoples' anger. And the same for Mayor DeBlasio.

"What would your description be of someone that would be a good agent of change to confront the racist law enforcement practices of the NYPD"

OOH a sharpton throwaway line.

The NYPD is 47% minority, so how could they be racist?

Thank you for asking....Now..as to AlanLeroy's personal feelings...I do not believe anyone should be stopped and frisked by police without probable cause that they committed an actual crime. That could have been changed with the full support of the NYPD if the Mayor was more of a CEO working behind the scenes than a political hack looking to score political points. It could have been done with the stroke of a pen. I don't believe ending stop and frisk in any way addresses the real issue of crime though. I believe that the real issue of crime and especially disproportionate crime by young black men should be addressed at its root cause.

I think we need to get these kids out of their failing intercity public schools and into competitive private schools by offering their parents a choice....via vouchers....that's a no-brainer and step 1.

And if you're really interested in ending the cycle of crime and incarceration by young poor black men then end our truly racist drug laws and the failed war on drugs....that's step 2.

Possession and drug use should be an issue of personal responsibility and not the nanny state criminal justice system. Too many young adults first get caught up in the criminal system because the state prosecuted them for making a personal decision about what chemical they put in their own body....and then they have their first Felony...and it haunts them for life.

Drug abuse should be treated as a public health problem and not a criminal justice problem. We have more people and a higher percent of our population jailed than most any other country. The bulk of that is because we throw people in jail because their drug of choice was not alcohol or nicotine.

Of course minimum wage laws are preventing these kids from ever getting their first real job....but that's another discussion entirely.

And that's all I've got to say about that.

Because the statistics of the stop-n-frisk demographics proved it to be. Statisitcs are not an opinion or something invented by Al Sharpton.

And how many times have you been stopped and frisked, Hoops? Tell us.
96% of shooting victims in NYC in 2013 were black and hispanic. So who should the police focus on?
