They think they are above the law and that their do as I say and not as I do code is a way of life. Wiener was an arrogant ass that when you watched him during news interviews in the last few months made you think how could this guy get voted into office in the first place. He is just another lying politician that doesn't deserve to be in the position he is in. These guys need to remember they were put there to work for us. Arrogance has no place in that position.

I'm talking about the merchants who HIRE people and GIVE PEOPLE INCOME PAYING JOBS. We are talking about an estimate of 12 billion dollars that will be saved ultimately by these merchants and their customers.

Only a lover of big banking would want these fees to remain the same.

RM the participating part went out the window years ago. Unless the business is still operating with equipment out of the 1980's, everything is computerized. (participating back then ment if you accepted CC's, now everybody does)

About 15 years ago, I worked for a bank who handles Best Buy and NTB. Typically businesses pay between 2% to 5% per transaction, plus a setup fee. (usually AMEX and Discover only)

I believe you can get merchant fees on Visa, MC, or Discover as low as 1.3 to 1.5 percent. American Express has usually always been more, and at one time was up to 7%. There is still a flat fee charged in addition to the percentage of the purchase.

Usually there is no fee for someone writing a check, but there is a claim of an amount be charged for NSF. It is in the bank's best interest if someone purchases with a credit card and not a debit card, because of the merchant fees charged to the vendor.

THIS thread began with "Looks like our favorite named politco has admitted to his tawdry twitters. Says there are many more like it and wont relinquish his seat." Non-political?

WhOA!!!!!!!!!! Wait a minute. It was a current events thing, one we've been following and having fun with(except for the few uptight usual suspects) and thought it was interesting he came clean.

Was it political just because i used the word "politco"? How should i have worded it? if I had said our favorite named DEMOCRAT has fessed up, Holy cwap ,biggus! Stop the presses! Get ody on the phone Forkie and mal would've went into caediac arrest. So's I just went with our favorite named politco to keep it neutral. But even to the childs eye, i suppose that is "baiting" os some other such nonsensical reason to break out the pugle(sp?) sticks and go to town.

Depending on the business and the bank, fees can change quite a bit. Both AMEX and Discover are higher in their fees as they are their own card issuers. (banks can't issue their cards) It pretty much means they can charge what the market will bear.

Hell get elected - how about get reelected?

I just took a quick look at a couple of services and Discover fees were the same as Visa and MC. AMEX has always been more, but have still come down. While AMEX fees are higher to merchants, AMEX business will many times be the best customer. This would especially go for travel, restaurants, and lodging.

Well, Mr Weiner has yet to get it. His own party is jumping ship on him and it's only going to get worse. Congressman Weiner didn't fess up quick enough and let things drag out too long, so now he's going to pay for it.

Holy-Moly.

There are two men serving in the United States Senate named Johnson, and 4 more in the House of Representatives. Maybe the fun ain't over.

Oh, . . . and by the way, with a little Googling one can find "the photo" of Weiner's, . . .umm, wiener, . . . but it's a little fuzzy, . . . umm, DonDiego means the photo is fuzzy, 'cause it's off the Blackberry screen.
