Final Goodbye to the Riviera Casino

Madcat and I checked in to a suite at the Riviera last night. It was the final night ever for the casino. They close their doors for good at noon today.

The casino was packed all evening. Standing room only at the bar. They were running out of some of their drink choices. Once they ran out it was time to pick something else to drink. Everybody was in a great mood and had no problems with the bar running out of choices.

The R Steakhouse was fully booked for the evening. We went to happy hour in the adjacent bar and it was soon filled to capacity as folks unable to get into the steakhouse poured in and ordered from the bar. The steakhouse also had items that were no longer available due to closing.

The gaming floor was pretty full but not overcrowded. The tables were slammed but several slot machines were still available. Everybody was taking a ton of pictures.

This was our first time staying at the Riviera and the suite was very clean. It was a lot nicer than we expected. Had a fridge and a wetbar in our room along with a couch and loveseat. It was a pleasant surprise to enjoy the room.

We spoke to several employees throughout the night. They were all very upbeat despite the loss of their jobs. Only a few of them had something else lined up. I really hope all of them catch a break and get something new. They are a bunch of great people.

Goodbye Riv!
Sad, that's where my Vegas addiction started with the Riviera gambling junkets. Feels like I am losing an old friend.
The North Strip is not going to look the same without the Riviera facade. Probably bad news for slots-a-fun as they get a fair share of Riviera guests. Wouldn't be surprised to see that place close up now.
Followed by Circus Circus?

Thank you for reporting. I liked the Riv a lot. Glad you got such nice accommodations.
The Riv will be missed, so iconic.
Crazy Girls found a new home I believe at Planet Hollywood.

Do you think 'Slots' & the Circus might hold on until they get the new convention center built....there should be a lot of traffic then
