We now move on to day 3. Usually type the previous days TR early in the morning around 6:30 or so. Even though I was awake at my "usual" 4:30 am time, I just wasn't in the mood to jump out of bed and start typing. At 7 am, I decided to go downstairs for breakfast. I didn't want to see if the "tribe" was up yet as I felt like eating alone and going over what sports bets to make this weekend. I would eat at the counter as my waitress Betty Jane, who I affectionately call "BJ" would be back to work.
As I reached the 1st floor, my phone started beeping to let me know the battery was low. Since I left my charger at home, and only had the car charger, I had to go to valet parking first to leave the phone in the car to be charged. I went back to the Cafe and gave my order to BJ and went to the reception area to get a USA Today newspaper. I was going to have French Toast and bacon today.
But let's go back to yesterday and the day 3 TR. When I got online yesterday morning, I had a PM from walt and marcia saying they were coming by the Silverton and would like to meet me for a drink. I PMed them back that they were welcome to come over for breakfast. I headed for the bar soon after and I kept thinking about my loss from the day before and how I would hope to get it back today.
I took my seat at the bar around 9:30 am, and the bar was empty as well as the whole casino. I took my "lucky" 3 seat and took a look at how much the royal was now worth. It was just under 5 grand. That would make a nice payday and get me even and even ahead for the trip. I was only on my first $100, and it was down to $50 when I wound up hitting four 8's on DDB for $250. Looks like this day was going to be different than the previous day. Switching back to BP, it wasn't long before I hit my 2nd 4OAK.....4 Jacks. The progressive for 4 Aces was now over $500, and I thought that would be a nice hit. Well sure enough, I got dealt 3 Aces and the 4th one appeared on the draw. Hot cha cha!!! This sure was going to be a different day. The four 2-3-4's jackpot was also climbing and now stood at almost $250. After a little dry spell, I decided that this machine had give out its share of 4OAK's and I changed my seat to the far end. I took the seat next to where Faye would normally be sitting, and I hit 4 9's right away. After I hit one more 4 OAK...8's this time....I moved to the end seat. Tom the bartender was going on break, and my "viewable" bartender took his place. I ordered my first drink of the day, a Gentleman Jack on the rocks with a Diet Coke back. The regular Jack Daniels was poured from the gun, and just didn't taste the same as Jack Daniels out of the bottle. Those of you that frequent casino bars, or other bars for that matter, will know what I'm talking about. Well, it wasn't that long before I got dealt two deuces, and two more appeared on the draw and I had knocked off the progressive jackpot of $253. I got up to cash out some TITO's, and I now had over $1000 from my days starting bankroll of $600. Well I was making progress towards getting back my money from the previous days losses. I was going to sit back down in the end seat, but something told me to go back to the next to the end seat. The ticket acceptor on that machine was very finicky, and sometimes it would take you bill...and sometimes it would spit it back out. I thought that if it took my bill within two tries, it was meant for me to play that machine. If not, then I would go back to playing the end machine. So I inserted the bill and it spit it right back out like I tried to feed it poison. So I would try again and sit down in the end seat if it wouldn't take the bill. So the bill was inserted.....it then made its usual whirring sounds.....and instead of coughing the bill back out....it took it and gave me my $100 in credits. So that must mean I was meant to play that machine. And I sure was. Within a few hands, I got DEALT 4 tens playing BP. After about ten minutes went by...and a few Royal misses...I got dealt two Aces....and just had a feeling that two more were going to fill in. I was now playing DDB, and 4 aces with the kicker would really make my day. Well, I didn't get the kicker, but sure enough I got those 4 Aces. YAHOO!!! I played a few more minutes with mixed results, and cashed out when I got down to $1000. I was now almost even for the trip. That's the ticket.
Walt and Marcia gave me a call and said they were in the area and could they stop by and see me. Sure, come on down. She said they were very close and would be there in a few minutes. When they arrived at the bar, we shook hands and took our seats. By the time they got there, I had moved down to the middle of the bar which was still wide open so there was no problem getting seats together. Walt started putting TITO's in their machines and I asked them if they had been playing earlier. He said they were his "stash" that he kept on the side since they played at the Silverton regularly. Marcia mentioned that they also had dogs, and we started talking about the medications that hers had to take, and how they found a place online where the cost was a lot less expensive than what her vet was charging. I was really interested in getting the name of the company as two of my dogs take medication for Cushings disease, and it cost me almost $200 a month. Since they will probably be taking these meds for the rest of their lives, it could save me some serious cash. Although it's not supposed to be hereditary, somehow these two got the disease just like our Gypsy Rose. We sure don't want what happened to her like what happened to Gypsy. Although I haven't looked up their prices yet, the name of the company is Upco.com. So check it out if you should have an animal that takes meds regularly.
While talking and playing, I managed to hit four 7's on DDB. We talked for a while longer and they said they were going to leave. I'll tell you one thing, the LVA sure has some nice people, and it's always a pleasure meeting you people to connect a face with a name. I had now met four people this trip that read and post on the LVA and I'm looking forward to meeting more of you in the future.
But let me backtrack a little bit, as what Bagiant thread would be complete without a Sharlene update. While sitting in my #3 seat when I started playing, I get a text message saying, "That item you are looking for can probably be found on ebay." I looked to see who sent it, and it was the guy Sharlene was staying with before she went into rehab. I texted back, "what item?" Within a minute, my cell was ringing and it was him. He had sent the text to the wrong person. I asked him if he had heard from Sharlene yet. Just as he was going to give me an answer, the connection was severed. I tried to call him back multiple times and got no answer. I couldn't understand why he wouldn't answer my calls. About two hours later, he called me back and I found out what happened. His battery had died and needed recharging so he couldn't take or make any calls. He told me that Sharlene had called him last night, and she told him that she would be getting out tomorrow (Wednesday) How could that be? She would only have been in there for two weeks. What the heck kind of rehab was that? He said he was going to pick her up in the morning after traffic had died down. I told him to have her call me when she got out. Well she's out now and called me without ever having him tell her to as she was waiting for him to pick her up and hadn't spoken to him yet. He mentioned to me that something that we both agreed on, that this "rehab" just wasn't going to work for her. He said he knew a few other places where she could go to get the full treatment. But it was really nice to speak to her. She asked me how Faye was doing. When I told her she was in an assisted care home she just couldn't believe it.She said she would call me back later.
I mentioned a friend of mine from grammar and high school was in town, and sure enough, she wound up calling me that she was close to the Silverton, and where could she find me. I told her I was at the center bar, and a few minutes later she called to say she was at the Silverton and where was the center bar? She thought I meant the Flair bar. A minute later she was in sight and we gave each other a big hug and kiss. Boy did she look good. When she was in grammar school...5th grade...she already was sporting a "D" cup. When we were reunited in Calif., she had added a few extra pounds, and I thought she would look about the same. I started to calculate the last time we had seen each other. I probably hadn't seen her in almost 30 years. But she surprised me with her good looks and shapely body that now had really been slimmed down. She wanted to take me to a show that night at the Imperial Palace, but I knew that I was already tired and would probably be going to bed early. I thought she was staying at the Silverton that night, but she said she was only here for the Tuesday slot tournament, and that she would be staying at Bally's until the end of her tournament there.
Well, I wound up cashing out another TITO, and when I counted up my money, I was within 50 bucks of being even. I headed upstairs for a break, and I wish I would have stayed up there as my fortune would change that evening, and I would wind up only $200 for the day, and $1400 down for the trip. Oh well, that's gambling. OK, going to jump in the shower and head back downstairs to try and get some money back. Those four Aces with a kicker sure would be nice.
As I reached the 1st floor, my phone started beeping to let me know the battery was low. Since I left my charger at home, and only had the car charger, I had to go to valet parking first to leave the phone in the car to be charged.
