Renovated? Seems like it just opened a couple years ago.
At first, we were informed by Guest Services that the rooms were being "renovated." Then, a front desk manager at check-in ensured we had a room on the 59th floor, so it would be a quiet stay. At check-in, we were told that the "renovation" involved adding rooms to the "lots of empty space" on those floors.
Not enquiring further at that time, I am thinking that they are eliminating many of the larger rooms that had mini-kitchens, taking out the kitchens (which don't get used, thanks to the Cosmo policy of not providing dishes, utensils, and so on), and then subdividing the larger room into two new smaller rooms.
I believe Cosmo has high occupancy rates, thanks in part to convention business, and therefore their room inventory would increase if they took the larger rooms, tore out the kitchens, and converted it into 2 rooms.
