First Casino in Upstate NY ?? DOH !!!!

Um, News FLASH !!!!

Tioga Downs Casino has been open since June 9, 2006

I don't know how the news reports missed it but the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY and Vernon Downs Racino have been around for over 15 years for Turning Stone and maybe 5+ for the Casino portion of Vernon Downs (which has been a horse racing track since the 1950's).

Both are located in Verona, NY which is VERY Upstate and about 40 East of Syracuse.

I guess it changed from a video terminal parlor to a full casino. Must be the privately owned aspect?

"Voters approved a constitutional amendment to authorize up to seven private casinos in 2013."

"The state first made four casino licenses available in 2014, limiting them to areas north of New York City and east of Route 14, which draws a north-south line halfway between Rochester and Syracuse. (The Seneca Indian Nation has exclusive rights to operate casinos in western New York.)" https://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/local/new-york/2016/08/30/tioga-downs-casino-vote/89578520/
Tioga Downs, the home of my first quarter royal on 6-6-2011.

Have you been saving that pic all of these years in hopes of this thread?

Yes, and 5 1/2 years is minimal when you consider the history of Earth.
The first of four newly approved.

Not THE first.
I think its the first non-Indian casino. The others are glorified slot parlors, as far as I know. Never been to any of them except Turning Stone and havent been there since they wised up to our advantage play.
