Flagellating a Deceased Equine

What's your book titled? What is it about? this is the first I have heard of it.
Thank you desertflower for following the instructions of the thread. Since you were kind enough to mention that you purchased my book before I started posting on LVA and no one else has chimed in that has purchased it as a result of my posts here I believe I have made my point, which was that I do not post here for the purpose of selling books.

I included a mention of my book and site only so that people would know who I was. Now that I'm sure everyone is familiar with me, I'll amend it to something funnier and resume my community service.

Since the thread is now filling up with people commenting in a thread that was not supposed to be for comments, I see no point in continuing it.
No, you did not make your point. You may have posted for the purpose of selling books, but you were not successful in doing so.

You were also not successful in controlling who posted to your thread. Boo-hoo.

What an odd way you have of interpreting the information. I knew before I started posting here that books sales were not an option. I have known this for several years. I continue to post and offer advice to those who want it and intend to continue to do so. My actions simply aren't consistent with a marketing strategy and never have been.

I do not consider anything I've done here at LVA to be a failure because I have achieved my intended goals.

As far as people posting in this thread that was supposed to be a numerical tally, I think that says more about their failure to listen than any failure on my part to state the intent of the thread. Would it surprise you to know I expected people to ignore the instructions.

You did use the word "may" and so I can't fault you there for offering one possible explanation. Now that you know that I know there is no profit in posting, as you continue to see me contribute to this forum I hope that you will realise how unlikely that is to be the correct explanation.

I have never been motivated by money and anyone that knows me knows this. I'm sorry you don't know me better and that my words here have not better conveyed my thoughts.

Frank,

Thanks for opening up this thread. Unlike Money, I respected and honored your request not to respond in this thread, because I did not purchase your book. And I so wanted to comment on his response in this thread. Alan and LP pretty much said it all anyway.

I requested my local library obtain a copy of “The Secret World of Video Poker Progressives” for me to borrow. I've done this previously with many titles over the years, including Doyle's Super System, Caro's Book of Tells, some Malmuth, Sklansky, and other gaming and poker books. I don't recall ever, eventually, NOT getting a requested book title to read through those requests. Sorry to deprive you of the $4.00 or so, but I'm frugal, and you would still make that $ from the library purchase of your title.

Much to my dissapointment, when I searched half.com there were no copies either.

Hopefully, my library will come through.

If not, when I next visit Huntington Press to pick up a MRB, I WILL try to get it,... if they aren't watching me to closely, and it slips under my shirt easily without falling out.

Or, as a potential crime prevention measure, maybe you'll send me a gratis copy? I'd be happy to send you $4.00 for it.

Please.

I'll understand if you don't. You seem much nicer that Phil Helmuth.

When I met him, I asked him for a free copy of his book at the WSOP. Sheesh, just because he was standing at the urinal doing his business was no reason to be rude about about my request.

I don't remember whether he washed his hands with soap and water or not.

Frank there is nothing wrong trying to sell your book or promote your website. There are several regular posters here on LVA with their own websites about Vegas travel that carry ads and there are posters with various Vegas-related businesses. Using forums like this is an established tool of web marketing including making posts to build credibility. You invested time and money in your book and site so go ahead and sell them.

But this is an open forum on the web and you can't control who posts or what they say. You said a few months ago that you are new to the form experience. You just learned something.

Since I self published I do not believe libraries carry my book. When I said I make $4 dollars a book that's when people buy it for the $29.42 price. I'll try to get it in the local libraries, thanks for the heads up. I'd like it if it was available to the general public that can't afford the purchase price.
That makes sense.

$25K to produce an informercial, $400 for 30 minutes air time in Vegas, $4K for a cable network air time, hmm, about $30,000.00.

Since you did not "self publish", at your $4.00 per copy, you only need to sell 7,500 books to break even.

Money, Thanks for the education. <sic>

Roadtrip most infomercials air several hundred times. I have infomercials on the air now that were produced four years ago and run five or seven times a week. That's about 300 times a year. So let me educate you:

An infomercial that runs 300 times and cost $30k to produce amortizes to $100 per half hour of TV. Now consider the company that runs an infomercial twice a day or for two years? How about my client that has used the same program for four years?

I hope you just learned something.
Also Frank's publisher charging $29 per copy should invest in the marketing. And I wonder if this same publisher has other VP books too?
