Food Saver

Hi Mine just went out. I have had them since they first came out. I love them, very good for buying and saving.
Do any of you own one and what model do you have? I have a flat one(had) which has the best vaccume to seal? I have heard some are better then others.

Darn tootin'! Ilove mine and use it quite often. I have to admit I get lazy on occasion and still let some things spoil. I usally use it when I buy a whole lot of something and spend part of an aftyernoon vac'ing stuff.

Ours is a kenmore that we recived as a christmas present years ago and has worked fine so far. Sometimes it doesn't seal but thats usually because some juice gets sucked up in the bag but I always get it to work. I would say its' seen light to med duty use and would redcommed it. Heres a blurry pic of the last tenderloin I vac'd recently.

It seems to me that people that shop at Costco or a similar place would find these things to be very handy. The thing I don't understand about Costco is when you buy in bulk, you have one accident and lose one item...then what is the savings?
I received one for Christmas about 5 years ago and it works like a champ. The only issue I ever had is hamburger. For some strange reason, the hamburger never stays fresh in the freezer. It works great for everything else with no problems.

Bagiant, one buys in bulk and when you get home, you separate the food and put them into the bags and place them into the freezer.

I loved ours, I also do dried goods, sugar, flour, pet grain.
Shrimp, and fresh vegies. The suction went out on ours I have gone through 3 so far. i even do blocks of cheese and the list goes on, even when I make up meals that way you can boil it to reheat.

Huh. I wonder why your burgers don't seal well tony. I've never had a problem doing burgers with mine. Is the meat too juicy and doesn't seal well I wonder? I haven't done any for awhile but I use to do like 5 lbs worth of burgers at a time, maybe about time to do another batch. Need to go hit costco up.

I have one and would give it a 9 out of 10. The cannisters sometimes don't seal. You can suck the air out and be done and you can hear the air going back in.

Usually I will grill a lot of chicken breasts and will then use the foodsaver. Every once in a while, I will find that the bag didn't fully seal, but most of the time it works great. I got the stainless steel one that stands vertical, so I'm not ashamed to leave it out on my kitchen counter.

Don't know John, I put in about 1 - 1 1/2 lbs per bag when I buy hamburger in bulk, 10lbs or more. I try and buy the "made from meat trimmings" rather than the tube stuff as they don't get hit with the e-coli recalls.
Hubby has been a Foodsaver fan for many, many years. He now has the s/s vertical model # V3485 and loves it. He bought it a few yrs. ago from foodsaver.com...it was a deal he got along with free shipping, couldn't pass it up.
