Food trucks

Any LV residents or visitors patronize these things? The LVA promotes them like they're the biggest thing since sliced bread so I have to assume they have some appeal to the LVA demographic. As far as I can tell, though, they're nothing but a truck that parks at different locales and serves greasy food. I personally prefer my greasy food served in air conditioning and not under the hot LV sun. Oh, I forgot that they serve sliders. I finally decided to look up what a slider is. A mini-hamburger type food. How can we ever get along without such an earth shattering food creation.
I believe sliders were invented many years ago by White Castle. They sold by the bagful.
White Castle/Krystal is what came to mind also. I'd just never heard them called that until recently. It is easier than calling them mini-sandwiches. I won't be chasing any food trucks around town and fighting the UNLV age crowds to get my sliders though.
They were named sliders because they slide right down your throat, lol. At least the White Castle ones do.

Food trucks have also been around a long time. They were the source for lunch for outdoor workers, such as at construction sites. I recall seeing them in Chicago for years. They have probably become more "mainstream" nowadays, setting up in NON-construction areas, because there is so little construction going on.

Food trucks have been shown on cooking channel lately(or travel channel, not sure).Becoming more"upscale" cooking. I've seen a couple of food truck wars on tv. Some of the stuff looks pretty good to me. I think one of the wars happened in downtown vegas, but could be mistaken. I'd hit one for a late night drunken gyro or something.

Food trucks in Chicago years ago were called "roach coaches" and ranged from okay to god awful. Like jatki99 said today's food trucks are totally different, very upscale. I know people that follow their favorite trucks on Twitter to get locations.

I always heard White Castle hamburgers were called Sliders for a different reason Sue. Hint: they are also called "ex-lax on a bun".

the trend in LA is for "gourmet" food trucks -- not selling your regular food truck fare.

Personally, I wouldnt eat from a food truck unless it was a factory packed bag of cookies and a factory bottled coke I was buying.

Some examples of the LA food trucks in this link advertising a food truck festival.
food stalls are very popular in 3rd world countries. I just read about a guy in India with a very popular food stall was video taped peeing into his ladle used to serve food and drink. The locals called the police on him after they beat him up.

At Rutgers we affectionately called them grease trucks. Falafel was always popular.
I don't know about food trucks in Vegas but they are fabulous, home-cooked meals and very cheap in Barbados..I love that option when visiting my fav. island
