Im all for themes, but even the so-called "non themed" casinos have a theme. Cosmo has a theme. Sure the employees dont walk around looking like they belong in King Arthur's castle, but they dress to their "theme."
do I like the "Disney themed casinos? Yeah, I do, but I felt sorry for the dealers and the whacky costumes they wore at Excalibur." I thought the taxi/doorman garb that the slot floorman wore at NYNY was cool. The dealers at Caesars don't exactly look like theyre ready to fight the lions.
they still have themes, but now the "silly factor" has been reduced. I dont mind the "steel financial district" of city center -- that theme works as an alternative too. RedRock has a beautiful theme. Flamingo has a tacky Vegas theme that is classic. There can only be ONE Paris, and thankfully no one built a Titanic or a Tel Aviv.
NYNY could add a wing that could be called the Five Towns or Westchester. A casino with full pay VP or very loose slots could call itself "The Fed." (when did the Mint close?)
Im sorry that Terribles wasnt on the Strip... because I expected Carl Icahn to open Wonderfuls across the street.
