The NY Public Library is teaming up with a micro- brew pub in NY to produce a beer made from George Washington's personal beer recipe.
It reads, in part-- "Take a large sifer full of bran hops....Boil these for three hours then strain out 30 gall(ons) into a cooler, put in 3 Gall(ons) Molasses while the beer is scalding hot.... let this stand til it is little more than blood warm then put in a quart of yeast...."
Seems convoluted to me, but the brewmasters of Shmaltz Brewing, best known for Coney Island Beer, will be making a batch and promise a larger batch in time for the Library's 100th birthday later this month.
To ensure its tastiness, the beer will not be sold, but given away, as everyone knows nothing taste better than free beer.
